- Prints completed log sheet from teleradiography and submits to Radiologist, if applicable.

- Performs and maintains quality control logs for probe disinfection and follows infection control policies.

Operations

- Restocks linens and supplies, and maintains the department in clean and orderly condition.

- Transports patients, positions patients, and helps them on and off procedure table.

- Performs patient charging activities on the day the service is rendered.

- Applies supportive and immobilization devices and equipment, if needed.

- Willingly lends knowledge and assistance to others upon request as needed and routinely as time is available, without prompting, so that all working time is used for departmental advantage.

Job Summary:

The Surgical Technologist functions under the direction of the registered professional nurse. Assists the health care team in providing safe, age appropriate and culturally aware patient care. He/she has knowledge, skill and ability to perform duties within the context of moderate to high acuity surgical cases (with an expectation on occasion to work above this level as cases require) as defined by the scope of anatomy, equipment and instrumentation of the case and anticipates the needs of the surgeon and other members of the healthcare team. Exhibits an acquisition of additional surgical skills for progressively more difficult cases. Demonstrates an efficient, organized surgical plan for assigned cases. Takes initiative to discuss surgical plan with other members of the healthcare team. Able to troubleshoot instruments and equipment. Anticipates any additional supplies or equipment required for procedures. Ability to mentor, precept or train in various modalities. Participates in performance improvement initiatives. Duties include, but are not limited to, preparation of the operative suite and surgical field to ensure a safe patient care environment while being vigilant for the maintenance of the sterile field and other patient safety concerns. In addition, they will gather required instruments, supplies and serve as surgical assistant as needed. (not to be confused with a certified surgical first assistant). The Lead Labor & Delivery Surgical Technologist functions under the direction of the registered professional nurse. Assists the health care team in providing safe, age-appropriate and culturally aware patient care. He/she has advanced knowledge, skill and ability to perform duties within the context of at least two surgical specialties including moderate to high acuity cases (with an expectation on occasion to work above this level as cases require) as defined by the scope of anatomy, equipment and instrumentation of the case and anticipates the needs of the surgeon and other members of the healthcare team. Exhibits a high-level ability to acquire additional surgical skills for progressively more difficult cases and functions as an expert technical resource. Demonstrates an efficient, organized surgical plan for assigned cases. Takes initiative to discuss surgical plan with other members of the healthcare team. Able to troubleshoot instruments and equipment. Anticipates any additional supplies or equipment required for procedures. Acts as a liaison with sterile processing department. Expert level clinical skill, knowledge, and disposition to mentor, precept or train in various modalities. Initiates performance improvement initiatives in conjunction with unit leadership. Duties include, but are not limited to, preparation of the operative suite and surgical field to ensure a safe patient care environment while being vigilant for the maintenance of the sterile field and other patient safety concerns. Certified Surgical Technologist required to have a certificate or associate degree from a community college or a technical school and have passed the competency examination through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or National Center for Competency Testing.

d. Performs appropriate surgical counts with circulator.
e. Actively participates in the procedure pause/time-out.
f. Scrubs, gowns, and gloves; Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
