The Registered Respiratory Therapist role within the University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center offers a unique chance to become part of a dynamic, collaborative interdisciplinary team. This position adds value to patient care and significantly assists individuals with breathing issues.
We currently offer an opportunity for a part time nights, Registered Respiratory Therapist to support patients in our acute care hospital in Elyria.

A Brief Overview
The therapist is learning and incorporating the mission statement and standards of behavior of his/her hospital or care facility. This therapist performs basic competencies within orientation and provides satisfactory respiratory therapy with minimum supervision.

* Mechanical ventilation
* Medicated aerosol delivery
* Airway clearance therapy
* Patient monitoring
* Oxygen and humidity therapy
* Special procedures (CPR, specialty gases, bronchoscopy, transport, etc.)
Additional Responsibilities
* Performs other duties as assigned.
* Complies with all policies and standards.
* For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
* Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Qualifications
Education
* Associate's Degree in Respiratory (Required) or
* Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory (Required)
Work Experience
* 1+ years Respiratory Therapy (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
* Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) (Required)
* Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)
* Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (Preferred)
* Current RCP Ohio License granted by the Ohio Medical Board (Required)
* American Association for Respiratory Care membership (Preferred)
* NRP Certified (Neonatal facilities) (Required within 6 Months)
Position Details/Preferred Qualifications
At least 1 year of recent experience is preferred. Previous hospital experience is also preferred. The schedule is Monday-Friday with rotating weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities:
* Utilizes professional knowledge and behaviors to evaluate, assess and treat patients with a variety of physical, educational, or psychosocial disabilities.
* Communicates effectively with patient, family members, and team members as needed.
* Performs appropriate and necessary documentation and patient/family education, per division protocols.
* Supervises COTA/L, volunteer, or student per OT regulations.
* Other duties as required.
Technical Expertise
* Experience in pediatric occupational therapy is preferred.
* Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
* Experience in healthcare is preferred.
* Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.
Education and Experience
* Education: Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy.
* Certification: Certification by National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy and current Ohio state licensure is required.
* Years of relevant experience: 3 to 5 years is preferred.
