About this Position: 

Repair and maintain equipment and support daily production. Respond to breakdowns and calls to keep production running. Support weekend maintenance repair and preventative maintenance activities when necessary. Support a reliability-centered maintenance program. Support team activities and contribute your own ideas.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Support department in achieving daily production targets.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections/checks for abnormal situations.
  • Document daily equipment-related activities.
  • Suggest and implement approval ideas that reduce repeat or potential downtime.
  • Support weekend and plant shutdown activities.
  • Preventative maintenance and continuous improvement of equipment and tools as required in order to guarantee safety, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Equipment modifications as required to support business plan initiatives, new model requirements, or other retooling requirements.

 

Daily Tasks:

  • Equipment inspections.
  • Daily reporting and tracking of activities.

Who we are seeking:

Required Work Experience:

Minimum of three months of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment with a 2-year technical degree or a minimum of two years of relevant experience if no degree.

Required Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Pay Information

$36.04 - $41.19 hourly starting wage

Job Purpose

This position is within the Facilities department within Honda Development & Manufacturing of America, LLC’s. The Facilities department is responsible for the building which includes new construction, remodels, utility management (electric, compressed air, natural gas, water), building maintenance, end of life equipment replacements and upgrades. The goal of the department is to create a facility that we are proud of and serve our customers.
Role Description:
Work on a team to perform facilities equipment preventative maintenance, repairs, improvements, and reporting, to maintain a high level of customer service in building, equipment, and utility operations. 
Continuously develop associate skills through Honda maintenance training program and find ways of introducing technologies and efficiency improvements.

Key Accountabilities
  • Complete preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems (e.g., mechanical, electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and building controls). Perform daily assigned work order tasks and communicate any follow-up needed
  • Evaluates and recommends equipment improvements to improve availability, capability, and yield. Suggest and revise preventative maintenance to properly maintain facilities equipment
  • Performs equipment failure analysis (including preventative and unscheduled maintenance). Troubleshoots and diagnose equipment problems. 
  • Participate in a reliability centred maintenance program for equipment. Participate in team activities to develop and maintain long term equipment reliability. Support total equipment management through daily and proactive activities to improve operations, promoting business targets and objectives.
  • Provide mentorship and teambuilding through work habits, communication and the sharing of knowledge and expertise. Expand and maintain technical expertise through formal and on-the-job training opportunities. Support and engage in activities that drive new ideas, leveraging new technology, new methods and approaches to positively impact Honda’s competitiveness.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  • Completion of 2 year technical degree or equivalent equipment service experience

 

Minimum Experience:

  • Desired: 3 years of experience in a Facilities environment (industrial, or heavy commercial). Will consider well qualified entry level candidates

 

Other Job-Specific Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Facilities low and medium voltage electrical equipment (including substations, switches, cable, starters, variable frequency drives, motor control center, breakers, bus duct) and Building Management Systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment, such as Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Air Compressors, Air Dryers, Boilers, Cooling Towers, Pumps, Plumbing & Piping
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly express ideas.

Job Purpose

Effectively lead multi-disciplinary facility electrical engineering projects with capabilities to implement and communicate an operational plan for completing a project, monitor progress and performance against the project plan; resolve operational problems, minimize delays, develop, and gather necessary resources to complete the project. Project scope includes current situation assessment, design, coordination, electrical capacity, coordinate process demand with current infrastructure capacity.  Productively manage workload to successfully complete end of life, new investment, and customer driven projects.  Systemize, standardize, and simplify the electrical projects.

Key Accountabilities

•Electrical Engineering– Specify and evaluate the equipment and installation for all electrical equipment.  Evaluate drawings, teach, and train other discipline engineers on electrical specialty.  Assess electrical capacity versus current demand.  Evaluate end of life and innovate new characteristic changes on all electrical infrastructure.    
•Support operation of Facilities electrical systems including but not limited to generators, electrical panels, busways, transformers, breakers, and lighting and controls.  Manage and maintain documentation for the site Electrical Systems.  Communicate critical updates to site system operators   
•Utility Outages – Coordinate all power outages with internal departments, contractors, and outside entities as required.  Issue electrical schedules to affected customer and receive approval to proceed.  Schedule contract work and equipment service support to complete each power outage.   
•Support development of maintenance & investment budgets for the department electrical equipment and projects.    
•Simplex (life safety) Expert – Coordinate all life safety work with life safety expert, Simplex.  Provide feedback to Simplex on performance and required areas for improvement.  Evaluate project progress and identify areas for improvement.  Coordinate life safety work with electrical contractor, equipment service, customer department, County inspector to ensure work is complete without impacting SQCEDM categories.    
•Project Management - Work with internal customers and external consultants, contractors, and suppliers to develop initial concept, specifications, design drawing review, procurement scope, fabrication / construction, and installation-related documents.      
 

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Minimum Educational Qualifications    
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering

Minimum Experience    
1 to 3 years of experience developing, coordinating, and managing Electrical, Mechanical and/or facility related projects preferred

Job Purpose

The primary mission of this position is to lead activities related to equipment characteristic improvement for the Ohio Transmission Plant, Aluminium Machining Department.  This will be accomplished by performing true root cause analysis of top problems and implementing countermeasures.

This is an electrical-focused engineer whose goal is to facilitate department S, Q, and D metric target achievement.

Manufacturing Equipment Expert:

Equipment top problem root cause analysis and permanent countermeasure

Collect, analyze, and summarize information and trends related to equipment performanc

Identify improvement opportunities for Key Performance Indicators and for cost avoidance/elimination

Become an expert in a specific area of automation technology (i.e. PLC, Motion Control, Robotics, etc…)  Then, train associates on equipment or process change

Lifecycle management of manufacturing equipment. (Spare Parts, Procedures, PM

Project Management:  Define and create scope of design and construction for renovation, upgrade of existing electrical systems, or for build of a new system with a focus on cost control.  Conduct PDCA during design and implementation stage.  Create, implement and maintain project schedules and achieve desired results.

Review, verify and approve electrical engineering drawings at the various design completion levels. Work with and manage contractors' activities throughout the different phases of a project.

New Technology:  Use manufacturing expertise to support company’s development of new processes.
