What you will do in this role:

• Assists with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high quality, patient-centered care.
• Participates in the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team.
• Collaborates with subject matter experts and other managers to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service.
• Supports a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
• Supports the efforts of the facility to improve engagement by operationalizing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding, hourly rounds, and other initiatives.   
• Provides recommendations related to interviewing, selecting, and training new staff. Recommends and implements courses of action, including training and development, conflict resolution, personnel policy compliance, completion of performance evaluations, and/or disciplinary actions to ensure a competitively better organization.

Under the general supervision of the Cardiovascular Services Director, Manager and CV Prep and Recovery Supervisor, the RN provides direct patient care to the adult patient population. Prepares patient for and recovers patient after cardiovascular and electrophysiology procedures performed in the CV Lab, administers medications and performs procedural documentation for all patients while in the CV Prep and Recovery unit, administers conscious sedation to patients undergoing transesophageal echo procedures and monitors patients undergoing cardiac stress tests, tilt table tests and cardioversions. • BCLS and NRP required upon hire and maintained while in this role. RNC-OB (Inpatient Obstetrics) certification within 18 months of hire and must be maintained while in this role. C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification is required within 6 months of hire and must be maintained while in this role. 
• Prefer minimum of 3 years current clinical experience as a RN working in a tertiary obstetrical care center.

About this unit:

Cardiac Telemetry nurses assess acute changes in patients. They monitor and analyze the heart rhythm of patients, interpret ECGs, note arrhythmias, and intervene in emergency situations. Our Cardiac Telemetry unit is unique in that our nurses take care of patients recovering from open heart surgeries, heart catheterization with stent placement, ablations, pace maker/AICD placement, cardiovascular surgeries and we are a comprehensive stoke/stemi facility.

Requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
• Current state of Missouri RN licensure required.

• Graduate of accredited nursing school, ADN or BSN required.

• American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required. Current AHA ACLS to be obtain within 90 days of hire; NIH Stroke training to be completed successfully within 90 days of hire; TNCC REQUIRED within 6 months of hire. ENPC REQUIRED within 6 months of hire. PALS is preferred.

Under the general direction of the Manager of Perioperative Services, you will the nursing needs of the selected groups of surgical patients by providing oversight of direct patient care, education of patients, families and staff. This position will develop guidelines, maintain accuracy of surgeon’s preference cards, implement necessary research, monitor patient outcomes, provide oversight of staff and coordinate equipment and supply needs as well as provide nursing administrative support.

What you will do in this role: 

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery 
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification 
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy 
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies 
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives
