POSITION SUMMARY:

The Shift Supervisor ensures day-to-day safe and efficient operation of the Plant and provides leadership, coaching, training, and direction to employees.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products consistent with effective operations and cost factors.
• Ensures products are manufactured with an emphasis on quality and strict adherence to specifications and standards.
• Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, operation and/or production problems.
• Supervises production by maintaining a high level of visibility and involving employees in decision-making and problem solving and managing Production Employee performance.
• Participates in the hiring process in partnership with HR.
• Responsible for creating the production manpower schedule.
• Participates in the development of safety programs and investigations and ensures all employees are trained in safety regulations/policies and are aware of machine hazards.
• Supports Crew Leader in his/her effort to establish effective priorities for the day and to assists the Operating Crews to implement the action plans to address those priorities.
• Conducts routine meetings with Crew Leaders to standardize operating procedures as well as develop and document plans for continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE)

• Bachelor's Degree and/or minimum of 3-5 years related experience in the paper industry or manufacturing discipline, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Union Experience Preferred
• Supervisory experience.
• Computer skills; including MS Office Suite.
• Strong technical process knowledge.
• Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude.
• Flexible and positive attitude towards change.
• Good written and verbal communication skills as well as a good listener.
• Ability to handle constant changes and multiple priorities efficiently and effectively.
• Experience with OSHA & VPP desired.
