Job Summary and QualificationsAs a Respiratory Therapist, you’ll play an essential role in guiding patients through both routine care and critical moments. You’ll perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures while managing invasive and noninvasive ventilation across a variety of care settings. You’ll have access to advanced respiratory technology, mentorship from experienced RT leaders, and the support of a dependable, collaborative team that will set you up for success and ongoing professional growth. And with consistent, predictable scheduling, you’ll have the stability and resources to deliver your best care, continue building your expertise, and make a lasting impact on patient health every day.
Your role will include:
- Assessing respiratory status by performing focused exams, interpreting breath sounds and airway patency, and determining the need for respiratory interventions.
- Delivering evidence-based therapy by providing oxygen support, aerosolized medications, airway clearance techniques, and other treatments across emergency, critical care, and acute settings.
- Managing ventilation and airways by assisting with artificial airway placement, initiating and adjusting invasive and noninvasive ventilation, monitoring patient responses, and responding quickly to clinical changes or emergencies.
- Supporting patients and the care team by educating patients and families, serving as a clinical resource, partnering with physicians and nurses, and helping stabilize newborns during deliveries when needed.
- Maintaining equipment and safety by setting up, operating, and cleaning respiratory equipment; ensuring readiness and preventive maintenance; transporting ventilated patients safely; and following all infection-prevention standards.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- (RRT/RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner
- PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt, or Ped Emrg Assmt Recog Sta must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- Vocational School Graduate, or Associate Degree

The RN in the Operating Room circulates and coordinates the surgical team in all aspects of OR activities, providing for optimum perioperative nursing care to patients. The OR RN may be asked to scrub as needed. Functions as the patient's advocate.

Responsibilities
The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects. A subset of employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle as a part of the responsibility of their role.
This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.
Qualifications
Graduate of a nursing program.
All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date of April 1, 2020 and after must provide documented evidence of program completion of a baccalaureate degree in nursing program within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date.
All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date prior to April 1, 2020 must provide documented evidence of program completion of a baccalaureate degree in nursing program as stipulated by the degree requirement program in place at time of hire.
One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is preferred.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. - Produces high quality diagnostic images for vascular and neuro Interventional Radiology, as well as assigned surgical areas including Neuro Vascular, Body Vascular, and Cardiothoracic interventional suites that meet the standards established by the Mayo Clinic Radiology Department.
- Requires competence in a wide variety of electronic systems, equipment, technologies, and supplies.
- Acts as an intraoperative first assist to radiologists and surgeons in the areas of vascular and non-vascular Interventional Radiology, Neuro Interventional, and Vascular Surgery.
- Responsibilities may also include preparing interventional rooms for procedures, performing surgical site sterile aseptic technique to prep patients for interventional procedures, prepare medical devices prior to use and/or implantation, assists physicians in procedures by circulating and scrubbing cases, obtaining and recording patient information, operate X-ray fluoroscopy systems including 3D rotational angiography acquisition as well as other advanced techniques, acquire and record hemodynamic values, operate ultrasound machines interprocedurally, perform image post processing and QC, clean procedure rooms, and prepare instruments for re-sterilization.

Additional Qualifications
One year of experience preferred. Experience within a sterile environment and aseptic technique preferred. Associate degree and one year of experience in General Radiology, IR, or CT preferred. Responsibilities
- Performs high-quality diagnostic imaging for Vascular and Neuro Interventional Radiology, including Neuro Vascular, Body Vascular, and Cardiothoracic interventional suites, in accordance with Mayo Clinic Radiology standards.
- Proficient in diverse electronic systems, equipment, technologies, and supplies.
- Acts as an intraoperative first assist to radiologists and surgeons in vascular and non-vascular IR, Neuro IR, and Vascular Surgery.
- Prepares interventional rooms, practices sterile technique, preps patients and medical devices, circulates and scrubs during procedures.
- Obtains/records patient data, operates fluoroscopy systems (including 3D rotational angiography), ultrasound machines, and acquires hemodynamic values.
- Performs image post-processing, quality control, and instrument sterilization.
- Works independently during diagnostic/interventional procedures with minimal supervision.
- Supports advanced procedures including Interventional Oncology, angioplasty, stenting, thrombolysis, embolization, portal interventions, aneurysm and vascular malformation treatments, CSF leak embolization, and stroke interventions.
- Adheres to radiation safety and ALARA principles for patients and staff.
- Provides patient-first care, promotes teamwork and professionalism.
- Must be flexible with hours, locations, shifts, and on-call duties, and respond within 30 minutes.

Additional Qualifications
- Experience within a sterile environment and aseptic technique preferred.
- One to two years of technologist experience in IR preferred.

License or Certification

Responsibilities
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) works collaboratively to improve the quality of patient care and promote desired patient outcomes in a designated population/specialty practice. The CNS functions as a leader within the three spheres of influence (Patient/Client, Nurses and Nursing Practice, Organization/System), and is an active participant in the nursing leadership team. This role will provide support to the Department of Radiology, Interventional Radiology, and other initiatives led by the Department of Nursing (DON).
This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Holders of F1 status eligible for post-completion OPT are welcome to apply. This role is NOT eligible to participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.
Qualifications

- Master's degree with a major in nursing with a Clinical Nurse Specialist focus. Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree preferred
- Experience as a CNS preferred.
- Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient needs and CNS workload.
- Five years of successful work experience in nursing with two years in the specialty area preferred.
As a condition of employment, individuals working with addictions services must be free from problematic substance use for a minimum of the immediately preceding two years at time of hire.
License and Certifications:
- Current RN license by applicable state requirements. This RN job may require a RN license in multiple states.
- Current APRN, CNS license by applicable state requirements. If state doesn't have APRN licensure, Clinical Nurse Specialist Certification, in designated specialty by a nationally recognized body deemed acceptable by the State Board of Nursing in the state the CNS practices or a documented waiver deemed acceptable by the Board of Nursing in the state the CNS practices, when there is no Clinical Nurse Specialist Certification examination for the specialty.
- Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association (BLS for Health Care Providers), Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers), or Military Training Network. Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area is highly recommended.
