Job Summary and QualificationsAs a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in line with the requirements of the department and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, you will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, following established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." What you will do in this role:
- Assess the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record. - Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.

- U.S. citizenship is required
- Possess a current valid driver's license
- Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is mandatory.
- Must be at least 21 years old at the time of application and under 40 at referral. About the Clinician's WorkdayThe nurse practitioner will deliver comprehensive inpatient neurosurgical services during three weekly 13-hour night shifts covering Monday through Wednesday from 5:30 PM to 6:30 AM. Primary duties include completing admissions, conducting history and physical examinations, and providing consultations for diverse neurosurgical conditions encompassing trauma, tumor, spine, functional, vascular, and pediatric cases. The clinician must independently assess patients, review imaging studies, formulate treatment plans, and place orders while managing 20-40 active neurosurgical patients per shift including up to 10 new consults and 10 transfer center consults. Essential procedural skills include EVD placement competency with ability to perform lumbar punctures and place lumbar drains and subdural drains as clinically indicated.
