The George Washington Medical Faculty Associates' Department of Surgery (MFA) seeks a full-time faculty member for the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Section. The MFA is an independent not-for-profit clinical practice group affiliated with the George Washington University. This is a non-tenure track appointment that will be made at a rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) and salary commensurate with experience ranging from $350,000 - $400,000. Other responsibilities include teaching fellows, residents, and medical students and contributing to an active research program.
Basic qualifications: Applicants must be board-eligible or board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care at the time of appointment. The GW Medical Faculty Associates (MFA), established in 2000, is a not-for-profit, physician-led, multi-specialty academic practice affiliated with the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. As the largest independent academic physician group in the DC metro area, MFA includes over 500 physicians and nearly 200 advanced practice providers.

MFA providers practice across 52 medical and surgical specialties, serve as faculty for medical trainees, and maintain active referral relationships with 12 regional hospitals. MFA also supports community-based practices throughout DC, Maryland, and Virginia and continues to expand international outreach.

Position Summary

The Clinical Nurse provides expert nursing care for patients with complex needs and supports the administrative and educational operations of the Internal Medicine department. This role focuses on patient education, clinical oversight, and workflow optimization to ensure high-quality care delivery.

Essential Responsibilities

Clinical Care & Patient Support

- Conduct patient education and clinical teaching (e.g., insulin administration, chronic disease management) beyond MA scope.
