Wilson Veterinary Hospital is a privately owned, three-time AAHA accredited small animal hospital. We provide general practice services, ER/ Urgent Care services, critical care/ hospitalization, soft tissue, orthopedic, arthroscopic and laparoscopic surgeries, Vimago CT scanner, ultrasonography, endoscopy and small rigid scoping abilities, certified rehab technicians with underwater treadmill. We also have chiropractic care, acupuncture and radioactive medicine (Synovetin OA). Once a month a boarded cardiologist visits. *Summary*
The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in the Emergency Department provides high-quality, compassionate care for patients presenting with urgent, critical, and life-threatening conditions. This position requires excellent medical knowledge, surgical and diagnostic skills, and the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure while leading a medical team in an emergency setting.
*Starting Salary 190k base + 30% commision and a sign on bonus!*
*Responsibilities*
* Provide emergency and critical care for patients, including stabilization, diagnostics, treatment, and monitoring.
* Perform urgent surgical and medical procedures such as wound repair, foreign body removal, and emergency surgeries.
* Diagnose and develop treatment plans based on presenting conditions, diagnostic results, and patient needs.
* Triage incoming emergency cases and provide rapid medical decision-making.
* Lead and supervise veterinary technicians and assistants in emergency procedures and patient care.
* Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners regarding diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, and costs.
* Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with legal and hospital standards.
* Collaborate with specialists, referring veterinarians, and other medical staff for comprehensive patient care.
* Adhere to all applicable veterinary laws, DEA regulations, OSHA guidelines, AAHA Accreditation and hospital protocols.
* Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work culture focused on patient care and client service.
*Qualifications*
* Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
* Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Michigan as well as DEA License.
* Minimum of 2 years of veterinary experience; emergency/critical care experience preferred.
* Strong diagnostic, surgical, and clinical skills.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to remain composed in high-stress and fast-paced environments.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education.
* Ability to be the only Doctor onsite
*Physical & Work Requirements*
* Ability to lift and carry animals up to 50 lbs. (with assistance as needed).
* Work in a high-stress environment with exposure to infectious diseases, radiation, and chemicals.
* Flexibility to work overnights, weekends, and holidays as required in an emergency setting.
