Position Overview: We're hiring a Physician Assistant in our Verona, NJ office. This position includes weekend shifts. The Physician Assistant will promote and maintain health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician.
Hours: Full-time
Responsibilities:
- Collaboration: Collaborate with physicians to identify and address patient care issues, offer relevant insights, and implement physician instructions for effective patient care.
- Patient Evaluation: Evaluate patient health through interviews, physical exams, and medical history reviews.
- Diagnostic Testing: Identify medical conditions by conducting or ordering tests like X-rays, EKGs, and lab studies, and interpret the results.
- Patient Records: Maintain detailed patient records in Athena and other electronic systems.
- Medical Procedures: Perform various medical procedures, including administering injections, suturing, wound care, and immunizations.
- Patient Education: Educate and counsel patients on treatment plans, growth and development, family planning, emotional well-being, and health maintenance.
- Patient Management: Develop and implement comprehensive patient management plans for seamless care continuity.
- Compliance: Ensure a safe and compliant work environment by adhering to established procedures, rules, and regulations, with a focus on infection control.
- Professional Development: Stay current with federal, state, and local laws and professional requirements, and provide guidance on necessary actions.

Qualifications:
- Physician Assistant Certification
- Licensure: Registration & Licensure by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners/Physician Assistant Advisory (or ability to obtain licensure by the hire date).
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in an outpatient primary care office, preferably family or internal medicine.

- Document patient history and physicals findings, assessment and plan promptly in the electronic medical record patient chart.
- Determine and complete orders including diagnostic testing, labs and medications within the EMR in accordance with institutional policy and procedures
- Assess pre and post procedure patient status, discuss procedural findings, answer appropriate questions and provide educational and emotional support to patients and family members. Prescribe medications and arrange follow up care
- Communicate with referring physicians and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure optimal outcomes
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care delivery
- Promptly submit billing information
What you'll need:
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program
- Three years or more as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant preferred (cardiology experience strongly preferred)
- Licensed by the State of NJ as an APRN or PA
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and BLS certification required
Work Location: You will work out of the Fairfield, NJ office with occasional work at the Oakland, NJ office. There will be rounds once a month at Valley or Chilton Hospital. - Participate in readmission review meetings and provide a summary of all PCMG acute discharges using the acute discharge worksheet and will review PCMG patients weekly with IDT (interdisciplinary team)
- Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill patients
- Development and management of patient treatment plans
- Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient?s age-specific needs
- Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
- Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability, including but not limited to serving in the first assisting role or working with PCP
- Monitors the effectiveness of interventions
- Facilitates the patient?s transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring, and discharging patients
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals
- Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools
Experience and Education:
- PA Degree from a College or University and two years related experience and/or training.
