Position Overview

Our client, a well-established and growing aggregates producer based in Northwest Ohio, is seeking a Safety Compliance Officer to oversee and drive safety performance across multiple aggregate operations. This role will be based in Findlay, Ohio and will support quarry, plant, and field operations throughout the region.

The Safety Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with MSHA regulations, company safety standards, and state/federal requirements while fostering a proactive, zero-incident safety culture.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee safety compliance across multiple aggregate sites including quarries, crushing operations, and plant facilities.
  • Ensure full compliance with MSHA standards, conducting site audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct and coordinate MSHA Part 46/48 training and ongoing employee safety education.
  • Investigate incidents, near-misses, and safety concerns; lead root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
  • Partner with operations leadership to integrate safety into daily production activities.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, reporting, and regulatory filings.
  • Serve as the primary liaison during MSHA inspections and regulatory interactions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce incidents and improve site safety metrics.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through coaching, leadership engagement, and employee accountability.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of safety experience in aggregates, mining, heavy civil, or industrial operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of MSHA regulations (Part 46/48 required; Part 50 reporting experience preferred).
  • Experience conducting site safety audits and managing regulatory inspections.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain large-scale safety programs across multiple locations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence field operations teams.
  • OSHA certifications and/or MSHA Instructor credentials preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Occupational Safety, or related field preferred (or equivalent field experience).
