The Alvin J. Division 7800 ICU is an Oncology designated 25-bed Intensive Care Unit. 10 beds designated to our oncology and bone marrow transplant patients. We provide care to critically ill patients with an oncology, bone marrow transplant diagnosis and patients that have had surgical interventions requiring ICU care. Care of high acuity critically ill patients includes high complexity interventions serving patients of the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), Oncology, and Surgical services. The presence of a multitude of services provides broad experiences for the nurse. Care is coordinated by a multidisciplinary team including oncology nurses, attending physicians, fellows, advanced practice nurses, physician assistance, case managers, social workers, spiritual care, pharmacy and psycho-social support.

Professional nursing growth and development are expected, encouraged and supported by the Nursing Resident Program (NRP) for new graduate nurses, the Career Ladder Program, Mock CODEs that are provided, a multitude of educational opportunities to sit and learn with attending physicians and educational preparation for the Critical Care Registered Nurse certification (CCRN), Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) program, and Bone Marrow Transplant Nurse Certification (BMTNC).

  • Responsible and accountable for producing quality work to prescribed standards, with a focus on continuous improvement to meet customer commitments on schedule and within budget.

  • Weld with a high degree of proficiency, experience and knowledge, able to meet various codes and specifications including AWS, ASME, and NAVSEA
  • Know, qualify and perform the following: MIG: carbon steels, stainless steel, and aluminum and combination; TIG: carbon steels, stainless steel, aluminum, and combination
  • Perform material preparation, open set-up and fit to meet process requirements proficiently in all required operations
  • Read blueprints, weld symbols and NDE symbols and interpret acceptance criteria
  • Coordinate effective communication regarding production processes with other departments such as Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Sales
  • Accurately perform visual inspection of weldments to confirm compliance to various codes and standards
  • Perform daily and weekly maintenance on all equipment
  • Share technical requirements, techniques, safety information, etc. with peers
  • If required, perform all aspects of inspection: in-process, final and source; allocate partial points - 3 points in-process - 3 points final - 4 points source

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 5 years of experience in specialty area e.g. welding, tool making
