As a Clinical Pharmacist you will:
- Serve as the inpatient pharmacy lead and point of contact for hematology and oncology Epic Beacon protocol build
- Facilitate and collaborate with appropriate caregivers in the development, reviewing and updating of hematology and oncology protocols with an understanding of the pharmacy operational impact of such protocols
- Work collaboratively with IVAS Newark campus in the operational implementation of hematology/oncology protocols and treatment plans including assisting with blank Beacon treatment plans
- Maintain USP 797 and USP 800 qualifications to assist in Newark Campus IV Admixture Services and OR pharmacy
- Manage patient’s complete medication plan, including the patient’s supportive care plan, throughout the continuum (inpatient, outpatient, home) in concert with the health care team.
- Collaborate with other pharmacists (e.g., hematology oncology, infectious diseases clinical pharmacy specialists), as needed, to address patient and disease-specific therapeutic issues
- Evaluate drug efficacy, monitor therapeutic goals and outcomes, and review for contraindications/precautions
- Order and evaluate laboratory tests per approved protocols to support medication therapy monitoring
- Electronically document interventions and provide sign out as appropriate
- Opportunities to serve as a preceptor for both pharmacy students and residents
- Assist with projects such as MUEs, drug monographs, and performance improvement activities
- Review and interpret provider orders and dispense medication
- Serve as a representative for the Department of Pharmacy on appropriate hospital committees/projects including oncology drug management.
- Navigate oncology drug shortages, including recommendation of alternative therapies when appropriate.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or PharmD degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy required
- ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency preferred or equivalent experience (3 years acute care)
- Board certification preferred
- Current licensure (or eligible to reciprocate) in the State of Delaware

This position is full time, evening shift, in the Newark Microbiology Lab with the hours of 3:00pm -11:30pm. The position requires work every third weekend and 2-3 holidays per year. The position also requires a periodic rotation to the Microbiology Lab at Wilmington.

Functioning in lieu of or alongside of a physician, it is essential for an urgent care Advanced Practitioner to have excellent assessment skills in order to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.

Job Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants
- Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
Work Experience
- 1+ years of post-residency clinical experience required
- Minimum 18 months experience in applicable practice setting preferred
- Adult and pediatric practice experience strongly preferred
Required Licenses/Certifications
- National Certification
- Active state medical licensure (MD/DE can be obtained)
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting
- Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, etc.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred
- Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records
- Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
Essential Functions

- Examining and treating patients
- Taking patients? medical histories
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays
- Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
- Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting
- Recording progress notes for follow-up patients
- Educating and counseling patients
- Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
- Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care
- All other duties as assigned
