Essentia Health Duluth Children’s Hospital, a member of Essential Health, is the region’s largest provider of pediatric care. With 12 outpatient Pediatricians, 2 NPs, and many pediatric subspecialists on staff, including Hospital Medicine, PICU, Hematology/Oncology, Neonatology, PM&R, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Dermatology, Ophthalmology and Orthopedics, we are able to care for the area’s most critically ill infants and children. Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center is a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center.
PRACTICE SPECIFICSWe are seeking a 1.0 FTE and one casual, Pediatric Gastroenterologist in Duluth, MN, to join our growing team.
The Pediatric Gastroenterologist will:
- Partner with our current, full-time, Pediatric GI physician and support staff to grow services
- Perform a full spectrum of Endoscopy procedures in Essentia’s state-of-the-art Digestive Health Center
- Rotate call with partner
- Partner on all GI hospital admissions with acute care Pediatric Hospitalists and Intensivists who service as primary
- Be supported by child-life specialists and other services uniquely designed for children and adolescents
- Join a robust pediatric subspecialty team as we continue to expand and grow services throughout our region
- Treat patients/families coming from an area that includes North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan.

This is an experienced athletic training position with daily responsibilities to include the following:
Management and Administration of Physician Practice
Effectively anticipate needs and preferences of the provider

Education and/or years experience required:

Qualifications:

Essentia Health offers a 1-year fellowship for Family Medicine physicians who desire advanced training in Obstetrics subsequent to medical practice in rural locations.
- Six Months of training will be dedicated to management if routine and high-risk obstetrics, developing competence inoperative deliveries and Cesarean section, and expanding skills in ultrasound, newborn resuscitation/stabilization, and colposcopy.

- Annual ED volumes of 42K patients/year in a brand new state-of-the-art 40 bed ED
- Large catchment area and a full complement of collaborative specialists and subspecialists (PICU/NICU teams, pediatric sub-specialists, neuro-interventional team, STEMI team, etc)
- 8 and 9 hour shifts; double & triple physician coverage with additional APP support 7 days/week
- Admit to St. Mary’s Medical Center, the region’s tertiary referral center with adult and pediatric subspecialties; 330-bed hospital and Level I Adult and Level II Peds Trauma Center
- Full spectrum of emergency medicine care including pediatrics
- Opportunity to teach, if interested (FM residents, medical students)
