The Inpatient Surgery Department at Saint Mary’s Hospital is a 23-bed unit specializing in the pre- and post-operative care of patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures. These include, but are not limited to, bariatric, orthopedic, ortho-trauma, neuro-spine, mastectomy, urological, gynecological, and gastrointestinal surgeries.
Your Role
As a valued member of our multidisciplinary team, you will:
- Deliver direct, hands-on care to patients with complex surgical needs.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans focused on promoting recovery and restoring patients to their pre-surgical level of wellness.
- Provide exceptional care and support for patients requiring overnight or extended post-operative stays.
Minimum Qualifications

Responsibilities include reviewing patient’s medical histories and performing focused cardiovascular assessments prior to testing. The position administers exercise and pharmacologic stress tests with nuclear medicine, and exercise treadmill stress tests. It also involves placement of IV’s, assisting in the administering Definity contrast enhancing agents and performing agitated saline bubble studies when indicated per protocol for patients undergoing echocardiograms. Additionally, the role provides initial patient management in the event of arrhythmia or other adverse events that may occur during stress testing.
Patient Assessment and Preparation:
- Reviews the patient’s medical record, including history, medications, and relevant labs.
- Performs focused cardiovascular assessments prior to noninvasive testing.
- Identifies potential risks or contraindications and communicates findings to the supervising cardiologist
- Provides patient and family education regarding the procedure.
