The Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department is responsible for ensuring structural and thermal design robustness across the Raytheon portfolio of products. Raytheon is seeking a mid-level career Senior Structural Engineer to join the Mechanical Analysis and Test Department.  In this role you will be responsible for detailed structural analysis to support all phases of programs including development and production. The analyses will cover a wide range of difficult problems, requiring solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives. The analysis tasks will span the spectrum from classical hand calculations to detailed analyses requiring the use of finite element analysis software. You will be expected to define the scope and level of analysis required to meet the objectives and will be held accountable for completing the work within the agreed upon cost and schedule. You will be expected to present your work for peer reviews and to be a peer reviewer for other engineers’ work. What You Will Do

• Perform detailed structural analyses to support all phases of programs

• Generate test plans required to validate analyses and verify hardware compliance to customer requirements

• Analyze test data to validate and correlate models, and/or generate mechanical loads and environments

• Work with limited oversight on complex problems to provide the answers needed under program cost and schedule constraints

• Coordinate and lead technical peer reviews ensuring the technical accuracy of work product as well as acting as a reviewer for others work products

• Present results to internal stakeholders and external customers

• Generate detailed, archival technical reports

• Travel to test sites to support test or design discussion (depending on work assignment)

• Act as a technical leader (help define and develop MA&T department technical processes and tools) and lead teams to meet program milestones

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience

• Experience in structural analysis (i.e. PATRAN, NASTRAN, ANSYS, ABAQUS or equivalent software)

What You Will Do:
 

As a Principal System Safety Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Analysis of engineering hardware, mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics assessment for fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety requirement compliance.

• Partner with system test and tactical operation and maintenance procedures to ensure the proper administrative system safety controls are in place.

• Support all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.

• Collaborate with Program Management and government approval authorities from design, fabrication, integration and test, production to demilitarization and disposal phases

• Develop a System Safety Program and perform analyses primarily in accordance with Mil-Std-882

• Work with varying sized system safety programs and support multiple programs to include:

• Monitoring program technical execution, Interfacing with stakeholders (e.g. customers, program offices, subcontractors, vendors)

• Preparing Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for Customer Approval

• Briefing program safety at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process

• Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards

• Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically Requires a bachelor’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant Systems Engineering or Safety Engineering experience.  An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position.

• Experience with System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Safety Engineering. 

• Experience with DoD System Safety Programs e.g. MIL-STD-882
