The Shipboard Effectors Department is currently searching for an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to support Standard Missile products and subsystems.
This Principal Mechanical Engineering position performs in alignment to expectations in the design, development and production support areas associated with mechanical designs, validation principals, qualification processes, procurement, and production processes across a design life cycle. Work may include requirements understanding, concept development, DFMAs, PFMEAs, margin analysis, technical data package (TDP) development, application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principals, engineering test principals, preparation of technical analysis reports, and design review presentation.
This is an onsite role and located in Tucson, AZ.
What You Will Do:
Contribute to one or more of our contract-funded and independent research efforts, each of which is at a different phase of development (proposal, design, and integration/test). Engineers are generally assigned to one effort at a time but may work multiple efforts over the course of several years.
Communicate with cross-disciplined, engineering team members and suppliers to analyze, model, and document the design technical data package (TDP) and its capabilities and compliance to requirements.
Work under limited supervision and act as the responsible engineer often in a project management role over entire subsystems within an effort. This often requires the ability to direct, delegate and review the work of others
Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements.
Collaborating across multiple disciplines with Structural and Thermal analyst, Materials Engineering, Quality, Safety, Supply Chain.
Lead a team(s) with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals.
Work thru engineering problems associated with large structures, welded assemblies, component integration, mechanisms, electronic assemblies
Support suppliers with product integration
Strong understanding of Thermal, Structural, Dynamic, and Reliability analysis to provide inputs and support. Incorporate results and findings into mechanical design.
Perform and review tolerance analyses to ensure form, fit, and function are as intended by design for the use-application.
Improve new and existing designs using Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) and Design for Producibility principles.
Apply knowledge and experience in technical problem solving and hardware development in a fast paced, team environment.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.
Experience with CREO (or equivalent CAD tool)
Experience developing and executing a plan to develop a mechanical component or subsystem
Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), basic tolerance analyses, and drawing practices and interpretation for mechanical hardware

The Effector Digital Products (EDP) department develops electronics for our weapon system products. We are responsible for the architecture, design, and documentation of deliverable FPGA embedded processing. We engage at the outset of the weapon system development and follow our designs through deployment. Our products are deployed all over the world, from the ground to exoatmospheric environments and into space.
As a Principal FPGA Design Engineer you will develop FPGA designs for all major vendors and device families including: Xilinx, Altera, and Microsemi. Designs are implemented using VHDL for the following applications: gigabit serial interfaces, Radio Frequency (RF) and Electro-Optical (EO) DSP, controls, data links, embedded processing and processor interfaces.
Designers work with circuit card designers and systems engineers to develop requirements, architect new parts, collaborative modeling of algorithms, partition and perform code development, simulation, and place and route. Designs are verified against requirements using both directed test and constrained random methodologies. Design support is expected from requirements definition through integration and test. Design documentation and configuration management are required.
This position is 100% ONSITE in Tucson, Arizona.
What You Will Do
Deliver production-quality FPGA releases from initial proof of concept to production
Architect FPGA-based systems to determine parts, interfaces, and Concept of Operations (CONOPS)
Translate system-level requirements into FPGA requirements.
Design and code in VHDL for reliability and maintainability.
Verify designs utilizing self-checking techniques with directed and constrained random tests, while tracking functional and code coverage.
Drive projects and execute program schedules on time and budget.
Create complete documentation including requirements, verification plans, and user’s guides.
Manage moderately sized projects or processes
Viewed as subject-matter expert within discipline
Able to operate with minimal oversight from manager
Coaches, reviews, and delegates work to junior engineers

Qualifications You Must Have
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology

The Mechanical Engineering group in the Shipboard Effectors Department seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer REA (Responsible Engineering Authority) to contribute to the mechanical technical team for a common Guidance Unit (Stack). This role is primarily responsible for maintaining mechanical Technical Data Package (TDP) configuration changes, driving producibility updates, supporting failure investigations, supporting alternate component and material evaluations and testing, providing support across the full spectrum of mechanical, environmental, structural, and thermal engineering disciplines. Additionally, the mechanical engineer will be part of a small team of mechanical engineers, ensuring successful support of both production and development efforts.

What You Will Do
Serve as the mechanical engineer to support documentation, mechanical, environmental, structural, and thermal aspects of different stack configurations.
Contribute to a small team of mechanical production REAs supporting mechanical production and development efforts, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with program objectives.
Oversee and manage all mechanical, slice and stack TDP configuration changes, ensuring updates address producibility improvements, yield optimization, and design enhancements.
Lead efforts to analyze and incorporate producibility updates into designs to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce production defects.
Support failure investigations, conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions to resolve systemic mechanical issues.
Provide technical guidance on mechanical design, analysis, and integration challenges, ensuring compliance with program requirements and performance specifications.
Drive design for manufacturability (DFM) practices and lead efforts to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities in mechanical assemblies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineering, quality, and supply chain, to resolve mechanical engineering challenges and ensure seamless integration of stack configurations.
Provide oversight and review of hardware performance during environmental testing, including structural and thermal analysis, to ensure compliance with design requirements.
Maintain and update mechanical TDPs, processing engineering change requests such as IRs, CNs, SRs, and variances to ensure accurate and current documentation.

Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
Five years’ experience in mechanical design and design documentation
Experience with 3D CAD tools (modeling and drawing)
Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5
Experience with the packaging of electronics assemblies
Knowledge of environmental testing and hardware performance validation, including structural and thermal analysis.

Effector RF Design Department is responsible for designing RF and Microwave hardware, including transmitters, receivers, and exciters. This includes design and test activities that span preliminary design to integration. Products we develop support radar and datalink applications on a variety of tactical missile programs. Critical to this role is designing for challenging mechanical constraints and extreme environments.
This position is an onsite role, located in Tucson, AZ.
What You Will Do
- Design and development of transmitters, receivers or exciters
- Design of circuit card assemblies (CCAs) with RF or mixed signals
- Work in a lab to accomplish component characterization as well as module verification and integration
- Test and handle sensitive RF Hardware
- Schematic capture and RF routing
- Partner with interdisciplinary teams - power, digital, mechanical, etc.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of eight years of prior relevant experience to include any combination of the following:
- Experience with RF design and fabrication
- Experience with RF testing and troubleshooting
- Experience with the simulation of RF products
- Experience with any of the following tools:
- Mentor DX Designer or equivalent
- High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) or equivalent
- SystemVue/Genesys or equivalent
- Advanced Design System (ADS) or equivalent
Qualifications We Prefer
- Mentorship or apprenticeship experience
- Technical oversight responsibilities for less-senior engineers
- Working across domains on complex projects
- Architecting and requirements definition for complex RF products
- Team leadership experience on technical projects including experience w/ cost and schedule
- EVMS or CAM experience
- Ability to prepare documentation with minimal oversight
- Background in designing for manufacturability, producibility, and cost constraints. Includes yield and margin analysis
- Technical background in the following areas:
- Cascade analysis and/or frequency planning
- Filter design and fabrication
- Circuit card assembly design and fabrication
- Testing or designing RF hybrid (chip and wire) technologies
- High speed data converter test/characterization
- High power RF design or test experience
- Scripting experience (Matlab or Python)
- Some front line leadership desirable

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time position of Senior Principal Test Systems Integrated Product Manager (IPM) located onsite in Tucson, Arizona. This position requires leading a team of sub-IPMs and multi-discipline engineers, providing technical and execution oversight, and managing multiple contracts and projects for a program. What You Will Do:
- Direct all phases of programs from inception through completion, act as an IPM of multi-disciplinary sub-IPMs on projects in technical manufacturing and administrative areas.
- Manage a cross functional test team including project management, electrical, software, mechanical, etc.
- Oversee and coordinates the administrative and operational aspects of ongoing projects within program guidelines.
- Coordinate with program leadership, finance, planning, and sub-IPMs to execute Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Analyze data gathered and develop solutions or alternative methods of proceeding to optimize performance and increase efficiency of work.
- Facilitate project tasks with the various functional organizations to ensure alignment with overall project objectives.

Qualifications You Must Have:
