About the Quality Inspector/Quality Check position:
- We are looking for a Quality Inspector who will be a firm advocate of quality in our business.
- Your duties will include verification of all incoming and outgoing material and products as well as inspection of quality with an eye for detail.
Quality Inspector/Quality Check responsibilities are:
- Examine and implement instructions for the quality expectations of product.
- Inspect materials? approving or rejecting them according to quality standards? and record supplier performance.
- Get output samples and check them using appropriate methods? such as measuring dimensions? testing functionality? comparing to specifications and so on.
- Perform complex testing procedures with the help of specialized automated systems.
- Keep records of testing? information and various metrics.
- Create reports on your activities and present them to the quality manager.
Useful to have:
- Responsible and trustworthy.
- 2+ years' experience of working as a Quality Inspector or assembly line checker.
- Significant experience with quality control standards and testing methodologies.
- Close attention to detail and a results-driven approach.
- Team oriented with a firm moral approach.
- Reports directly to the Assistant Foreman/Supervisor/Production Lead.
- Understands and follows PPE Policy.
- Lays out material utilizing drawings and blueprints prior to performing cutting/fitting operations.
- Maintains good housekeeping practices, turning off machines when not in use, disposing of waste
properly, sweeping the area, etc. - Ensures all tools listed on the \"Required Tools List\" are available for use within 30 days of employment.
- Acknowledging that all requirements of the Quality Assurance Manual are followed when invoked by
QA Workbook. - Identifies and notifies Supervisor of unsatisfactory conditions during the production operation.
- Fabricates and installs fixtures, jigs, supports and targets to ensure proper alignment during welding processes as directed by the Supervisor/Lead Mechanic.
- Basic computer skills.
- Assumes responsibility for Contractor (CFM) and Government (GFM) furnished materials.
- Ability to use lay-out tools such as tool scales, squares, combination squares, trammel points.
- Understands fitting of structural components using dogs, wedges, strong-backs, etc.
- Strict adherence to safety, quality standards, good housekeeping habits, high level of critical
thinking/reading. - Travel and overtime are required.
- Work outside specific trade skill as required.
Qualifications:
- Work Experience: Minimum 3+ years of Shipfitter experience.
- Understands and performs the setup, and operation of various portable tools and hand tools used in the
trade including plasma cutting machines and oxy/fueltorches. - Has knowledge of the following: shipboard plate (hull, deck, bulkhead) systems (repair/installation
practices, procedures, alignments, and material requirements), blueprint reading and interpretation,
MILSPEC requirements. - Must be able to fit structural components to tolerance requirements.
- Tack and Fillet Weld qualifications preferred (FCAW/SMAW).
- Must have the ability to gain access to military bases and various government facilities

Your Challenges
- Requires limited supervision/oversight, has experience in the trade and can perform all work required as an Inside Machinist
- Must have the ability to manufacture complex components from stock or modify parts in accordance with all drawing requirements
- Must be able to perform the set up and operation of all types of machines (lathes, mills, grinders, saws, etc.) and hand tools used in the trade as well as the ability to use all precision measuring instruments such as outside diameter and inside diameter micrometers, height gauges, depth gauges, calipers, verniers, lay-out tools and possess the ability to accurately record readings and measurements
- Advanced proficiency in reading complex blueprints, drawings, manuals, technical work documents, measuring and marking dimensions and reference points on material, selecting proper tooling, attachments, and accessories as well as manufacturing fixtures to hold work pieces and assemblies
- Advanced working knowledge of all feed/speed rates and machining characteristics of various materials
- Ability to machine complex parts to close tolerances ensuring that the finish requirements of the drawing specifications are achieved with first time quality
- Confers with engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems
- Work includes small and large assembly, and machining of heavy steel
- Apply knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and machine shop procedures
- Perform machine maintenance and is responsible for keeping work are clean and the immediate reporting of safety issues to Supervisor
- Work independently to complete responsibilities
- NDT experience is a plus
What You Bring
- Must be US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance
- 5 years machine shop experience and/or have completed a recognized apprenticeship as a General Machinist.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Ability to machine as per drawing tolerance of .0005\" where required
- Must be able to demonstrate General Machinist skills in the following areas:
- Lathe
- Milling
- Drilling
- Machine shop power and pneumatic tools
- Must be able to design and manufacture fixtures and template
- Must be able to make own layouts as per drawing
- Must be able to understand GD&T tolerances
- Experience operating forklifts, cranes, plate clamps and slings a plus
- Expected to have or purchase basic hand tools.
- The ability to work overtime when necessary and travel up to 25% is also a must.
- Must possess valid drivers license and maintain a clear driving record
