Job Summary: The welder is responsible for assembling, welding, cutting, and brazing metal pieces and products using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment. Works independently with minimal supervision and works well in a team environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
- Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
- Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
- Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
- Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
- Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding, including designs, uses, maintenance and repair.
- Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models, and blueprints.
- Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in various forms.
- Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or G.E.D
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship
- 5 + years of welding experience

Demonstrates strong communication and customer service skills while registering patients. Accurately searches and selects the correct patient. Gathers complete and accurate demographic and insurance information from patients and families. Identifies uninsured patients for referral to Medical Assistance/Charity Care evaluation. Retrieves orders, confirms medical necessity and answers phones for outpatient visits. Gathers worker's comp or auto insurance information from accident patients, collects patient out-of-pocket liability/copays, verifies insurance, and confirms referrals and authorizations are on file, if required.

Requests photo ID and insurance cards, scanning copies. Records complete and accurate demographic and insurance information. Interviewing patients to accurately complete the Medicare Secondary Payer (MSPQ) questionnaire for all Medicare patients. Uses RTE (Real Time Eligibility), Phreesia or payer websites to verify patients' insurance coverage and benefits including patient's out of pocket liability. Ensures proper referral and authorizations are on file as needed. Completes all activities with adherence to departmental and institutional protocols. Rotates assignment to all points of service areas within Patient Access (Outpatient Registration and Emergency Department).
Proficient with computer and Microsoft Office skills and familiar with healthcare EHR applications i.e. EPIC, Cerner. Knowledge of medical terminology and/or third-party insurance coverage including managed care plans. Strong verbal and written communication and customer service skills. Meticulous attention to detail.
Required High School Diploma or GED, Associates degree in healthcare or business administration preferred AND Emergency Department: Minimum 3 years experience in hospital, physician practice, or other related healthcare environment customer service. Prior registration experience in Emergency Dept preferred. Current Jefferson Seamless Access Representatives with a minimum of 1 year of experience will be considered as meeting the experience requirement.
