Responsibilities: perform obstetric anesthesia coverage in-house during the hours mentioned, including epidurals, c-sections, patient assessments and management. Assist with code calls in hospital. Intubations, invasive lines (A line, CVC) in hospital when required. Ability to place invasive lines (arterial line, CVC line) and proficiency in neuraxial anesthesia a must. Cross-coverage with main OR possible if desired (medical direction of CRNAs or sitting own cases). Mix of vascular, GYN, general/colorectal surgery, orthopedics, ENT, urology, and some GI.
Licensing requirements: BC/BE anesthesiologist with a NYS medical license and DEA registration. MOCA for physicians with board certification after the year 2000.
Coverage: A two week rotating shift that involves 6 weekday shifts (4 overnight and 2 during the day) and one weekend shift.
The weekday shift will be 1900 hours to 0730 hours or hours.
The weekend shift will be 0730 hours to 0730 hours (24 hours).
The schedule will be made 3 months in advance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Labor and Delivery is integrated with the post-partum and the NICU. Communication and handoffs are solid, and the overall environment is collaborative and supportive. All staff are Electronic Fetal Monitor certified (including the nurses) and safety drills are a regular part of the culture.
Supporting Colleagues
There are supportive adults and pediatric providers available, including Board Certified Neonatologists, adult specialists as well as a NNPs, PAs and Pediatricians. Maternal Fetal Medicine coverage is available for consults. The anesthesia coverage is excellent and the critical communication among departments is streamlined with the EPIC EMR.

THE ROLE
In this role, your responsibilities would include outpatient imaging, consultative services, and rotational inpatient coverage and at our Level III Perinatal Center at Sisters of Charity Hospital. The fetal testing unit draws from the hospital based OB-GYN Centers as well as private practice physicians in the community.

- Interpretation of obstetrical ultrasounds
- Routine imaging (aneuploidy screening, anatomic survey, growth), high risk care, fetal imaging

- Academic role: Resident didactic education, clinical rotations, and inpatient teaching rounds. A faculty appointment at SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine is available with rank dependent on experience and academic credentials.

You will work with an experienced team of colleagues, OB-GYN providers, including midwives, Board Certified Neonatologists, and Board Certified Pediatric subspecialists. You would be supported by highly qualified sonographers in a collegial office setting.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Fellowship trained in Accredited United States MFM Fellowship Program preferred
- Sub-specialty Board Certification in Maternal Fetal Medicine or Board Eligible
- Candidate must have current, unrestricted, New York State license or NYS Licensure in progress and active on date of hire
- The candidate must have current, unrestricted federal, and as needed, state prescriptive authority.
