Job Summary and QualificationsThe CT Technologist performs computerized tomography diagnostic procedures as outlined by the radiologist. Operates diagnostic equipment, verifies images and prepares room with necessary equipment and supplies for the procedure. Technologist is responsible for assisting in the primary mission of the medical imaging department by ensuring that proper diagnostic information is provided through the production of high-quality CT scans. Other duties include, but are not limited to; clerical, scheduling, diagnostic imaging, transportation, ordering supplies, inventory, cleaning and anything deemed necessary by the medical imaging management team. Assist in diagnostic work area as needed. Job may include direct supervision of students at the discretion of the area supervisor. Employee must have the same licensure or have completed the same training to satisfy the requirements of the discipline of the student. Direct supervision means the primary caregiver is readily available to the student throughout the shift.
Position Requirements:
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- ARRT required upon hire
- SCRQSA required upon hire
- BLS – Healthcare provider on hire or within 30 days of hire from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- CT registry preferred, but not required, within 6 months of departmental orientation completion date, at which point SCRQSA ARRT will be obtained.
Education:
- Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology and/or ARRT / CNMT.

PERFORM RADIOLOGIC EXAMINATIONS TIMLEY, ACCURATELY AND SAFELY FOR RADIOLOGIST INTERPRETATION
• Timely- Assure the schedule does not fall behind; exam delays are communicated to all stakeholders. Exams are routed to PACS for interpretation as soon as complete.
• Accurately- per exam protocol using appropriate anatomical markers and positioning aids. Images are free of artifacts and motion. Assure exams are read in a timely manner and all logs are completed.
• Safely- All patients are screened for patient and technologist identification, patient history, and safety protocols. Medial history reviewed for exam indications and contraindications.
ASSURE THE RADIOLOGY SUITE AND ADJACENT CLINICAL AND COMMON AREAS ARE PREPARED TO RECEIVE PATIENTS/VISITORS
• Equipment- assure all needed equipment is available and in working order, perform quality control per ACR and manufacturer – report ASAP any equipment errors or downtime directly to the service vendor and manager, as well as clinical staff.
• Suite/Clinical and common areas- assure all needed medical supplies are ordered and stowed, assure exam room and patient areas are clean and equipment is cleaned per manufacturer, OSHA, DHEC, and MUSC infection control guidelines. Report any environmental issues timely to the manager.

· Maintain a professional demeanor in attitude, appearance, and communication.

Ashley River Tower (ART) perioperative services is located on the fourth floor of the ART building. The ART operating room offers adult outpatient and inpatient surgeries through various surgical service lines including general, plastics, oncology, cardiac, thoracic, heart and lung transplants, vascular, colorectal, bariatric, and robotics. Operations are Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 7:00pm. General, Vascular, and Cardiothoracic call teams are available to cover emergency cases prior to the posted schedule times and on the weekends. There is 24-hour charge nurse coverage for after hours and weekends. The clinical programs that service ART are recognized for excellence in cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, vascular surgery, transplant surgery, as well as general and GI surgery and is nationally recognized for management of chronic pancreatitis, and bariatric surgery. MUSC’s heart and lung transplant program are certified by the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) and is the only heart and lung transplant program in South Carolina. Job Description
Offering adult and pediatric care within three different working environments. Shawn Jenkins Children Hospital and Summey Medical Pavilion offers state of the art pediatric care and supports the Mt. Pleasant and Summerville pediatric after hour clinics. Diagnostic care provided at Rutledge Tower by supporting and providing imaging for outpatient clinics, same day surgeries, and walk in appointments. Ashley River Tower offers imaging for digestive disease, cardiovascular disease, and cancer with inpatient and outpatient options. University Medical Hospital is an 800+ bed hospital with a Level 1 trauma center, transplant service line, neuroscience line, and provided other service that require diagnostic radiology support.
Performs radiographic procedures at a technical level requiring sound understanding of anatomical positioning and physiology; a high degree of technical competency and with the ability to act with initiative and ingenuity with minimum supervision. Apply ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis in adult and/or pediatric radiology.

Additional Job Description
Education: Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
Experience: 0 to 2 years of modality specific work experience.
Required Registration/Certification:
- Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), If not registered must obtain the registry within 6 months of hire.
- Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Copy of academic degree or transcript required.
Minimum Training and Education:
Graduate from an accredited school of radiologic technology and one year of radiologic experience. Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT), and licensed by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association. Must be able to produce very high-quality special imaging with little supervision. Must be able to function effectively in a team-oriented environment. Must be familiar with age specific criteria.
