The Leukemia/Lymphoma Unit (6900) provides care to patients who are hospitalized for Chemotherapy, pain management, symptom management related to chemotherapy and support for immunosuppression and/or neutropenia. This 34 bed unit consists of private rooms with eight hepa filtered rooms. The care is moderate to high acuity providing care with a high complexity of interventions which includes Leukemia care, Autologous Stem Cell transplants, Donor cellular infusions, post allogeneic complications, Graft vs. Host disease and a focus on Clinical trials. The multidisciplinary group of care providers includes Bone Marrow transplant physicians, oncology nurses, Case managers, coordinators, social workers, spiritual care, pharmacy and psycho-social support.

The Acute Dialysis Unit at Barnes-Jewish Hospital provides the latest treatments and technologies in renal replacement therapy to help patients with renal failure. The acute dialysis department has 12 dialysis bays to dialyze patients in the unit, and portable dialysis machines that enable dialysis RNs to travel throughout the hospital and provide dialysis therapy at patients' bedside, if needed. The types of renal replacement therapy we provide are: hemodialysis, CVVHDF, CVVHD, SCUF, SSED, TPE, CCPD, and CAPD. Department hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, 24 hours per day.¿ On Sundays the department RNs rotate on-call obligations.

The Psychiatry department is composed of three inpatient Psychiatric units and an Outpatient ECT staffed by passionate and knowledgeable professional healthcare providers. With a safe, patient-centered approach to Psychiatric care, we deliver high-quality care using group activity and music therapies, one-to-one care as needed, and an interdisciplinary team in state-of-the-art patient care units.
A combined total of 46 inpatient beds exist across Intensive, Medicine and Geriatric Psych units. The Psychiatric Medicine unit offers a unique opportunity to work in an environment that combines medical and Psychiatry. Intensive Psych allows our team to work with those who are acutely ill. The Geriatric unit is for those who truly have a passion for the elderly population in Psych. The team in Psychiatry is a well-rounded group caring for patients with a wide range of Psychiatric illnesses. Acute Care Medicine has patients with a full range of clinical issues-from significant blood dyscrasias, advanced endocrine pathology, heart and renal failure, GI conditions, infectious diseases, asthma and a multitude of other conditions and diseases.¿ Due to the patient acuity on the nursing division, we provide advanced training to bring new nurses to the highest level of functioning.¿ Each unit is lead by a clinical manager and lead charge nurse.¿ The unit is supported by an advanced practice nurse.¿ Additionally each unit is assigned a case manager, social worker, physical therapist, dietitian, and pharmacist.¿ This multidisciplinary team works in conjunction with the physicians, nurses and patient care technicians to provide quality patient care.
