Role Description

Fierce is hiring a contract User Experience Designer based in the Greater Seattle Area (on-site or remote). You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, Creative, and Data to design intuitive, high-conversion shopping experiences across web and mobile—especially for apparel discovery, product detail, virtual try-on, and checkout flows. You’ll conduct research to understand shopper motivations and pain points, translate insights into journeys and interaction models, prototype rapidly, and ship polished UI that makes shopping feel effortless and fun—including high-quality mobile web experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end UX for apparel shopping experiences: discovery, search/browse, PDP, sizing/fit guidance, virtual try-on, cart/checkout, and post-purchase flows.
• Plan and run user research (interviews, usability tests, concept tests), synthesize findings, and turn them into clear product recommendations.
• Create information architecture, user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, and interactive prototypes.
• Partner with Engineering to ensure designs are feasible, accessible, and implemented to spec; iterate based on QA and user feedback.
• Collaborate with Product to define success metrics (e.g., conversion, add-to-cart, retention), and use data to inform iteration.
• Contribute to and evolve a design system for consistent, scalable components across surfaces.
• Present work clearly to stakeholders, explaining tradeoffs and decision rationale
• Ship high-quality mobile web experiences (responsive layouts, performance-minded UX patterns, and touch-first interactions).
• Apply inclusive design practices across flows and UI components, considering diverse abilities, contexts, and devices.
• Design with accessibility in mind and partner with Engineering to meet modern web accessibility standards (e.g., semantic structure, focus states, contrast, keyboard navigation, screen reader-friendly patterns).

Qualifications (Required)

• Strong foundation in design thinking and human-centered design methods.
• Proven UX and prototyping skills, with a portfolio showing shipped work and measurable outcomes where possible.
• Advanced visual design ability: typography, layout, hierarchy, component design, and interaction polish.
• Experience designing for consumer web/mobile products, with emphasis on conversion-focused flows.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across product and engineering teams.
• Proficiency with Figma (preferred) or similar tools (Adobe, etc.).
• Ability to balance craft with speed—knowing when to explore and when to ship.
• Experience shipping responsive web and/or mobile web products, with portfolio examples showing end-to-end delivery.
• Working knowledge of inclusive design principles and how they translate into day-to-day product decisions.
• Familiarity with web accessibility standards and best practices (e.g., WCAG concepts), and the ability to validate designs for accessibility during design + QA.

Preferred / Plus

• Deep interest in e-commerce UX, especially apparel/fashion shopping behaviors (fit confidence, styling, returns, wishlisting, etc.).
• Experience designing for fashion e-commerce (PDPs, size/fit guidance, merchandising, outfit building, UGC, reviews).
• Familiarity with experimentation (A/B testing), funnel analytics, and optimization loops.
• Experience with virtual try-on, personalization, recommendations, or content-to-commerce experiences.
• Gen AI experience is a plus (e.g., designing AI-assisted workflows, prompt-based tools, image generation pipelines, or AI-driven personalization experiences).
• Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, or related field—or equivalent practical experience.

The first $10,000 will be paid upon successful completion of the Border Patrol Academy, with the remaining $10,000 awarded for accepting a prioritized location such as Sierra Blanca, Presidio, Sanderson, Comstock, Freer or Hebbronville, TX; Lordsburg, NM; or Ajo, AZ.

Duty Locations

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Duty assignments available at the time of offer may include the Southwest Border, including prioritized locations.

U.S. Border Patrol determines duty assignments at the time of offer based on operational needs, which may or may not align with candidates' first-choice preferences. RELOCATION MAY BE REQUIRED.

Duty location impacts pay rates; locality pay for federal law enforcement is higher in some locations than others. A fully trained BPA may be eligible for up to an additional 25% of base pay per the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014. This is a career ladder position with a grade level progression of GL-5, GL-7, GL-9, GS-11, and GS-12. You will be eligible for a promotion to the next higher grade level (without reapplying) once you successfully complete 52 weeks in each grade level.

Duties and Responsibilities

As a BPA, you will be part of our 60,000+ workforce that strives to protect the American people by safeguarding our borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing the nation's economic prosperity. Being a BPA makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) profession.

Typical assignments include:

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and custom laws and inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers of noncitizens at or near the borders by maintaining surveillance from covert positions to include using infrared scopes during night operations
• Interpreting and following tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry of persons or contraband
• Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks
• Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using a variety of government assets such as vehicles, horses, vessels, watercraft, off-road vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and motorcycles for the accomplishment of the USBP Mission.

Qualifications

You qualify for the GL-5 grade level if you possess one of the following:

Experience: One (1) year of general work experience that demonstrates the ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations; to learn regulations, methods, and techniques through classroom training and/or on-the-job instruction; and the ability to gather concise information through questioning, observation, and examination of documents and records; OR

Education Substitution: A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; OR

Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of general work experience AND successfully completed college education. This will be calculated using your resume and official or unofficial transcripts submitted with your application.

You qualify for the GL-7 grade level if you possess one of the following:

Experience: One year of specialized work experience that shows you have the skills necessary to:

• Make sound judgments and decisions in the use of firearms.

Education Substitution for the GL-7 grade level: A bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement, which is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average (i.e., GPA of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0), or (3) honor society membership. Or will receive a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. • The SPT I is responsible for general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department. This position requires a data entry background.
  
• Functions performed may include but are not limited to A-station, presort, pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory, imaging/microfilming, centrifugation and aliquoting.

Director of Manufacturing Engineering – Seafood Processing Operations

Salary Range: $190,000+ (Salaried, Exempt)

Key Role Requirements

• 10+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, including preventative maintenance, automation, and conveyance systems
• Hands-on experience supporting, maintaining, and optimizing Baader, Toyo, and/or Raiko processing equipment in high-volume seafood operations
• Proven ownership of major capital (CAPEX) projects, including ROI, gap analysis, risk assessment, and implementation
• Proven experience managing engineering teams across multiple locations

Role Summary

The Director of Manufacturing Engineering has oversight of the teams that maintain processing equipment in Alaska shoreplants and vessels, including Baader machines, electrical systems, and conveyance systems. This role manages three primary plants—Seattle, Tacoma (approximately 30 miles from Seattle), and Alaska locations as needed—and serves as the technical and operational leader for engineering performance, equipment reliability, and manufacturing efficiency.

Capital Projects Planning & Execution

• Identifies capital project needs and prepares assessments on resource needs and capital requirements
• Creates business cases to support projects that include ROI, gap analysis, and risk assessment
• Works closely with the Capital Projects team to develop implementation plans
• Participates in cross-functional teams as a technical expert to support implementation of large-scale capital projects

Equipment Management

• Develops and oversees the maintenance and preventative maintenance programs
• Works with production teams to ensure maintenance schedules support production needs
• Establishes, prepares, and maintains policies and procedures related to maintenance of equipment
• Develops, implements, and oversees key metrics that drive productivity, including but not limited to:
• Consistent fish sizing
• Machine yield
• Down-time reduction
• Effective preventative maintenance spending
• Improved automation (headcount reduction)
• Directs and oversees installation of new equipment and enhancements as needed

Team Management

• Sets and communicates goals and objectives for Engineering teams to align with company strategic goals

Seeking an AI/ML Operations professional for the following role -

Overall Responsibilities

• Manage operational workflows for model deployments, updates, and versioning across GCP, Azure, and AWS.
• Monitor model performance metrics: latency, throughput, error rates, token usage, and inference quality
• Track model drift, accuracy degradation, and performance anomalies - escalating to engineering as needed.
• Support knowledge base operations including vector embedding pipeline health, chunk quality, and refresh cycles in Vertex AI.
• Maintain model inventory and documentation across multi-cloud environments.
• Coordinate model evaluation cycles with Responsible AI and Core Engineering teams

Agent & MCP Server Operations

• Monitor AI agent health, performance, and reliability (AutoGen-based agents, MCP servers)
• Track agent execution metrics: task completion rates, tool call success/failure, latency, and error patterns
• Support agent deployment and configuration management workflows
• Document agent behaviors, known issues, and operational runbooks
• Coordinate with Core Engineering on agent updates, testing, and rollouts
• Monitor MCP server availability, connection health, and integration status

FinOps & Cost Management

• Track and analyze AI/ML cloud spend across GCP (Vertex AI), Azure (OpenAI), and AWS (Bedrock)
• Build cost dashboards with breakdowns by model, application team, use case, and environment.
• Monitor token consumption, inference costs, and embedding/storage costs.
• Identify cost optimization opportunities - model selection, caching, batching, rightsizing.
• Provide cost allocation reporting for chargeback/showback to consuming application teams.
• Forecast spend trends and flag budget anomalies.
• Partner with Infrastructure and Finance teams on AI cost governance.

Monitoring, Dashboarding & Reporting

• Build and maintain dashboards for platform performance, model health, agent metrics, and operational KPIs.
• Create executive and stakeholder reports on platform adoption, usage trends, and cost allocation.
• Develop Responsible AI dashboards tracking hallucination rates, accuracy metrics, guardrail triggers, and safety incidents.
• Monitor APIGEE gateway traffic patterns and API consumption trends.
• Provide regular reporting to product management on use case performance.

Release Operations Support

• Support release management processes with pre/post-deployment validation checks.
• Track release health metrics for models, agents, and platform components.
• Maintain release documentation, runbooks, and operational playbooks.
• Coordinate with QA, Performance Engineering, and Infrastructure teams during releases.

AI Operations

• Monitor guardrail effectiveness and flag anomalies to the Responsible AI team.
• Track and report on hallucination detection, content safety triggers, and accuracy trends.
• Support LLM Red Teaming efforts by collecting and organizing evaluation data.
• Maintain audit logs and compliance documentation for AI governance.

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Serve as operational point of contact for application teams consuming DxT AI APIs.
• Coordinate with Corporate Security on audit requests and compliance reporting.
• Partner with Infrastructure team on capacity tracking and resource utilization.
• Support Performance Engineering with load test analysis and results documentation.

Basic Qualifications

• 2-4 years in an Ops, Analytics, or Technical Operations role (MLOps, AIOps, DataOps, Platform Ops, or similar)
• Understanding of AI/ML concepts: models, inference, embeddings, vector databases, LLMs, tokens, prompts.
• Experience with cloud cost management and FinOps - tracking, analyzing, and optimizing cloud spend.
• Strong proficiency with dashboarding and visualization tools (Looker, Tableau, Grafana, or similar)
• Working knowledge of GCP (required); familiarity with Azure and AWS a plus.
• Comfortable with SQL and basic Python for data analysis and scripting.
• Experience with monitoring and observability platforms (Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana, Cloud Monitoring, or similar)
• Understanding of APIs and API gateways - ability to read logs, trace requests, analyze traffic.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills - able to translate technical metrics into stakeholder insights.
• College degree in Computer Science, BIS, MIS, EE, ME or similar is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with LLM platforms: Vertex AI, Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock
• Familiarity with AI agents and agentic architectures (AutoGen, LangChain, or similar)
• Exposure to MCP (Model Context Protocol) or agent-tool integration patterns.
• Experience with vector databases and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) operations.
• Understanding of MLOps lifecycle: model registry, versioning, deployment patterns, A/B testing
• Experience with APIGEE or similar API management platforms.
• Familiarity with Responsible AI metrics - hallucination, bias, content safety, guardrails.
• FinOps certification or formal cloud cost management experience.
• Experience supporting enterprise platform teams with multiple consuming applications.
• Familiarity with ML pipeline tools (Kubeflow, MLflow, Vertex AI Pipelines)
• Exposure to prompt management and evaluation frameworks.
• ITIL or operational process framework experience.
• Experience creating runbooks and operational documentation.

Education

• BE/BS in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar

The estimated pay range for this position is USD $85. /hr. Exact compensation and offers of employment are dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, licenses or certifications, and location. We also offer comprehensive benefits.
