A growing Manufacturing Company in the Dundee, Michigan area is looking for a working, hands on the floor 1st Shift Maintenance Supervisor. Prospective Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years Industrial Maintenance / Machine Repair experience as well as Metal Stamping knowledge and previous Supervision Experience. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Paid Vacation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position leads the maintenance operations and the production personnel assigned to work on your team.

The Machine Supervisor and participates in the construction, installation, modification, maintenance of production and quality by guaranteeing the operation and repairs of mechanical equipment and machinery, systems, facilities and related controls of varying design or complexity.

Participates in the construction, installation, modification, maintenance and repair of dies, presses and other mechanical equipment and machinery by interpreting blueprints, manufacturers' specifications, and written and verbal instructions.

Assists in the establishment of preventive maintenance programs for mechanical equipment and machinery and facilities.

Prepares reports and analyses indicating work progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

Completes preventive maintenance prerequisites on mechanical equipment like motors, conveyors, production machines, pneumatic tools and engines thereby ensuring smooth operation of such machinery and mechanical gadgets.

Conducts predictive maintenance for mechanical equipment and machinery and facilities.

Follows manufacturer's instructions, engineering specifications, sketches, operation manuals, and diagrams, to diagnose and troubleshoot abnormalities.

Must be able to identify sources of complications by observing mechanical devices while in operation and tune in for issues by utilizing accuracy and inspection instruments.

Must be able to take out defective parts by disassembling mechanisms using cranes, hoists, and hand and power tools.

Ability to oversee performing troubleshooting tasks and repair works on complex industrial machines.

Will be required to understand metal properties, layout, troubleshooting industrial machines, and shop mathematics by making use of PLC, control and relay circuits.

Ability to weld, alter or fabricate components of equipment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

1. 2 years of Journeyman's experience in the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures from blueprints, schematics and sketches preferred. A Degree in Engineering with mechanical specialty with at least 3 years cognitive and vocational experience in handling machine and machine parts would be preferred.

2. Must exhibit outstanding ability to learn and comprehend the fundamentals of the functioning of machines.

3. Excellent general understanding of hydraulic systems with display of mastery in troubleshooting by utilizing deductive reasoning and schematics.

4. Ability to achieve general maintenance essentials for system cooling towers, plant coolant and operational system specifics.

5. Ability to illustrate general maintenance requisite and simple procedures for operation of various types of pump including reciprocating, centrifugal, vane etc.

6. Must have knowledge of robotics, pneumatics, hydraulic and electrical system principles, and troubleshooting PLC logic and controls.

7. Must have experience with robotic welders, robotic cells, and manually operated equipment.

  • Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using a variety of government assets such as vehicles, horses, vessels, watercraft, off-road vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and motorcycles for the accomplishment of the USBP Mission.

Qualifications:

GL-9: You qualify for the GL-9 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:

  • Performing physical searches of detained individuals, their vehicles, and their immediate surroundings for weapons, contraband, currency, and other evidence.
  • Apprehending, physically restraining, or working with law enforcement officials to identify or apprehend violators of state, federal, or immigration laws.
  • Proficient in the use of firearms, preparing investigative reports, serving court orders (e.g., warrants, subpoenas, etc.), and gathering evidence for criminal cases prosecuted through the court system.

If you have previous or current law enforcement or military law enforcement experience, you may qualify at the GS-11 grade level.

GS-11: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, with the authority granted by the state or government to enforce laws, make arrests, and investigate crimes, performing primary duties in an official law enforcement capacity such as:

  • Utilizing intelligence information to track illegal operations, criminal activity, threats to our nation, and/or contraband while serving as a state, federal, or military law enforcement official.
  • Leading investigations of fraud, contraband, criminal activity, threats to our nation, and/or illegal operations to determine sources and patterns while serving as a state, federal, or military law enforcement official.
  • Apprehending violators of state, federal, or immigration laws by utilizing various forms of complex technology that include surveillance, detection, situation awareness systems, and/or communications equipment.

The above experience will be applied in connection with the following: Make arrests and exercise sound judgment in the use of firearms; deal effectively with people in a courteous manner in connection with law enforcement matters; analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions; or develop and maintain contact with a network of informants.

There are no education substitutions for the GL-9 or GS-11 grade-level Border Patrol Agent opportunities.
