Summary:
Performs sonography in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews patient history, physician's orders and does scheduling. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation. When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
- Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate. Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
- Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary. Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
- Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including re-positioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results. May work with Radiology students.
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technologist program or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program.
- Registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Vascular Technologist (RVT), or Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or certified in Sonography (S) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). State licensure if required by law.
- BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As a BPA, you will be part of our 60,000+ workforce that strives to protect the American people by safeguarding our borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing the nationโs economic prosperity. Being a BPA makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) profession.
Typical assignments include:
- Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
- Preventing and apprehending aliens and smugglers of aliens at or near the borders by maintaining surveillance from covert positions to include using infrared scopes during night operations.
- Interpreting and following tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry of persons or contraband.
- Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.
- Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using a variety of government assets such as vehicles, horses, vessels, watercraft, off-road vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and motorcycles for the accomplishment of the USBP Mission.
Qualifications:
GL-9: You qualify for the GL-9 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
- Performing physical searches of detained individuals, their vehicles, and their immediate surroundings for weapons, contraband, currency, and other evidence.
- Apprehending, physically restraining, or working with law enforcement officials to identify or apprehend violators of state, federal, or immigration laws.
- Proficient in the use of firearms, preparing investigative reports, serving court orders (e.g., warrants, subpoenas, etc.), and gathering evidence for criminal cases prosecuted through the court system.
If you have previous or current law enforcement or military law enforcement experience, you may qualify at the GS-11 grade level.
GS-11: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, with the authority granted by the state or government to enforce laws, make arrests, and investigate crimes, performing primary duties in an official law enforcement capacity such as:
- Utilizing intelligence information to track illegal operations, criminal activity, threats to our nation, and/or contraband while serving as a state, federal, or military law enforcement official.
- Leading investigations of fraud, contraband, criminal activity, threats to our nation, and/or illegal operations to determine sources and patterns while serving as a state, federal, or military law enforcement official.
- Apprehending violators of state, federal, or immigration laws by utilizing various forms of complex technology that include surveillance, detection, situation awareness systems, and/or communications equipment.
The above experience will be applied in connection with the following: Make arrests and exercise sound judgment in the use of firearms; deal effectively with people in a courteous manner in connection with law enforcement matters; analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions; or develop and maintain contact with a network of informants.
There are no education substitutions for the GL-9 or GS-11 grade-level Border Patrol Agent opportunities.

- Possess a current valid driver's license

Culinary Specialists operate and manage Navy messes and dining facilities, providing hospitality and meal services to entire Navy bases and ships. There are two types of Culinary Specialists depending on whether or not you choose to serve on submarines, both with corresponding responsibilities:
Culinary Specialist (CS)
Preparing menus for meal service and catering service
Operating kitchen and dining facilities on shore and at sea
Providing meals for fellow Sailors, Commanding Officers, Admirals, senior government executives and foreign dignitaries
Operating the White House Mess for the President of the United States

Overseeing shipboard living quarters and on-base hotel lodging

Work Environment
Culinary Specialists work as part of a team in kitchens, dining areas, living quarters and food service storerooms aboard ships and onshore bases. Culinary Specialist Submarines (CSS) have the opportunity to serve aboard submarines.
Training & Advancement
Upon completion of initial training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes (known as Boot Camp), you'll report for specialized training including:
Class "A" Technical School
(5 weeks) in Fort Lee, VA, for instruction and training in food preparation, nutrition and dining service.
After "A" School, Culinary Specialist Submarines (CSS) candidates will continue their training:
Basic Enlisted Submarine School
(9 weeks) in Groton, CT, for training in basic submarine systems. Note that this training is only for Culinary Specialists Submarines.
After completing training, Culinary Specialists and Culinary Specialist Submarines will receive their first assignments. Culinary Specialists may be assigned to ships or shore stations, while Culinary Specialist Submarines may be assigned to submarines or shore stations.
Advanced Training
Advanced training as a Culinary Specialist may also be available during later stages of your career. For those with further leadership aspirations and a college degree, Officer roles may be available, providing opportunities to lead and train others.
Post-Service Opportunities
Specialized training received and work experience gained in the course of service can lead to valuable credentialing and occupational opportunities in related fields in the civilian world whether you're a CSS or CS, such as Certified Food Employee (CFE) credentials and employment in the restaurant and hotel industries.
Education Opportunities
Beyond offering access to professional credentials and certifications, Navy technical and operational training in the culinary and hospitality fields can translate to credit hours toward a bachelor's or associate degree through the American Council on Education.
You may also continue your education through undergraduate degree opportunities like the Navy College Program and Tuition Assistance and the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
Qualifications & Requirements
A high-school diploma or equivalent is required to become an Enlisted Sailor and a Culinary Specialist.
In addition to an interest in nutrition and culinary arts, applicants should possess good arithmetic and verbal skills, creative ability and record-keeping skills.
Important personal traits for this role include the ability to follow instructions, perform detailed work, and cooperate well as part of a team. You should also enjoy working with people.
Culinary Specialists who wish to serve aboard submarines as a CSS must volunteer for submarine service.
General qualifications may vary depending upon whether you're currently serving, whether you've served before or whether you've never served before.
Part-Time Opportunities
Serving part-time as a Navy Reserve Sailor, your duties will be carried out during your scheduled drilling and training periods. During monthly drilling, Culinary Specialists in the Navy Reserve typically work at a location close to their homes.
For annual training, you may serve anywhere in the world, including locations in the U.S., at bases overseas, or in areas where humanitarian needs are great.

Most of what you do in the Navy Reserve is considered training. The basic Navy Reserve commitment involves training a minimum of one weekend a month (referred to as drilling) and two weeks a year (referred to as Annual Training) - or the equivalent of that.
Culinary Specialists in the Navy Reserve serve in an Enlisted role. Before receiving the ongoing professional training that comes with the job, initial training requirements must be met.
For current or former military Enlisted servicemembers, prior experience satisfies the initial Recruit Training requirement, so you will not need to go through Boot Camp again.
For those without prior military experience, you will need to meet the initial Recruit Training requirement by attending Boot Camp in Great Lakes, IL. This training course will prepare you for service in the Navy Reserve and count as your first Annual Training.

The Optum Care at Home program is a longitudinal, integrated care delivery program that coordinates the delivery and provision of clinical care of members in their place of residence. The DSNP program combines clinicians providing intensive interventions customized to the needs of each individual, in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Care Team, which includes the clinician, the member's Primary Care Provider and other providers, and other professionals.
This position is open to candidates who live in DC, MD, or VA
This is a field-based position in the greater Washington D.C. area.
Expect to spend about 50-75% of your time in the field visiting our members in their homes or in long-term care facilities in the local area.
You'll need to be flexible, adaptable and, above all, patient in all types of situations.
Standard Hours: Monday - Friday normal daytime business hours (no on-call, no weekends and no holidays required).
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan and implement care management interventions that are individualized for each member and directed toward the most appropriate, least restrictive level of care
- Develop and implement care plan interventions throughout the continuum of care as a single point of contact
- Communicate with all stakeholders the required health-related information to ensure quality coordinated care and services are provided expeditiously to all members
- Advocate for members and families as needed to ensure the member's needs and choices are fully represented and supported by the health care team
- Identify appropriate interventions and resources to meet gaps (e.g., psychosocial, transportation, long-term care) based on specific consumer needs from both the health care and psychosocial / socioeconomic dimensions of care
- Document the plan of care in appropriate EHR systems and enter data per specified
- Maintain consumer engagement by establishing rapport, demonstrating empathy, and building a trusting relationship
- Collaborate with primary providers or multidisciplinary team to align or integrate goals to plan of care and drive consistent coordination of care
- Provide ongoing support for advanced care planning
- Reassess plan of care at appropriate intervals based on initial objectives, significant change of condition, or achievement of goals
- Understand and operate effectively/efficiently within legal/regulatory requirements
- Utilize evidence-based guidelines (e.g., medical necessity guidelines, practice standard)
- Make outbound calls and receive inbound calls to assess members' current health status
- Identify gaps or barriers in treatment plans
- Provide member education to assist with self-management
- Make referrals to outside sources
- Provide a complete continuum of quality care through close communication with members via in-person or on-phone interaction
- Support members with condition education, medication reviews and connections to resources such as Home Health Aides or Meals on Wheels

Required Qualifications:
- Current unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Washington D.C., or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date
- Certified in Basic Life Support
- 2+ years of experience working with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- 1+ years of experience in post - acute care, such as long-term care
- 1+ years of clinical case management experience
- 1+ years of experience with using an Electronic Medical Record
- Valid Driver's License and access to reliable transportation
- Ability to work in a field-based capacity in Washington, D.C.
- Reside within 50 miles of Washington, DC
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Case Management (CCM)
- 1+ years of experience working with the geriatric population
- 1+ years of LTSS (Long Term Services and Supports)
- 1+ years of HCBS (Home and Community Based Services) experience
- Field based experience going into members' homes
- Experience creating care plans
- Case Management experience
- Background in managing populations with complex medical or behavioral needs
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $58,800 to $105,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
