What You Will Learn: Working on the production line, you will produce blades and vanes as well as perform all quality checks. These positions require shift work and ability to work overtime when needed. You will perform TIG welding operations on aircraft components to meet NDT specifications and ensure efficient flow of work to meet production schedules and demands.
What You Will Do:

  • Layout work requirements and obtain needed equipment to perform routine repair and alteration operations, inspect weld for bead sized and compliance with other specifications
  • Blend, grind, or polish weld ensuring specified minimum wall requirement is met
  • Use calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges to measure repaired part and ensure dimensional requirements are met. Complete production paperwork
  • Use and interpret complicated prints, drawings, and process sheets to perform a variety of layouts, as well as complete and sign work orders identifying the operations performed
  • Perform standard hand and machine welding operations to fabricate or restore parts and tools where close tolerances are not normally required, and specifically defined criteria are used. Utilize black light process to determine extent of repairs required
  • Build up finished machined surfaces and repair simple cracks and other routine imperfections. Use a variety of fixed and variable measuring instruments to check dimensions and record results
  • Recognize need and arrange for repair or replacement of equipment used in performing the work as necessary. Perform routine servicing throughout the assigned area following specified procedures and written instructions such as an operator check list for upkeep and to assure equipment operates properly
  • Assist others with new process tryout, and other specialized assignments

A Typical Day...

Qualifications You qualify for the GL-5 grade level if you possess one of the following: Experience: One (1) year of general work experience that demonstrates the ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations; to learn regulations, methods, and techniques through classroom training and/or on-the-job instruction; and the ability to gather concise information through questioning, observation, and examination of documents and records; A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; A combination of general work experience AND successfully completed college education.
