Our Gastroenterology section is seeking one BE/BC Gastroenterologist as part of a planned expansion. Our hospital serves a 132-bed tertiary referral center. Services onsite include a 24-hour Emergency Department with Level II trauma designation. The facility features a state- of-the-art endoscopy unit. Essentia Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our well-established and growing Nephrology team in Fargo, North Dakota. This role offers the opportunity to practice within one of the largest and most diverse nephrology patient populations in the Upper Midwest, while working in a highly collaborative, physician-led environment. You will join a cohesive department of three nephrologists and two advanced practice clinicians, supported by experienced clinic and dialysis staff. Our team delivers comprehensive kidney care across the continuum, including chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, hypertension, glomerular disorders, and end-stage renal disease. Care is provided across outpatient clinic and dialysis center settings, with strong interdisciplinary collaboration. This position serves a large regional catchment area across North Dakota and Minnesota, providing meaningful opportunities to expand access to specialty kidney care in both urban and rural communities. The role includes travel to established outreach sites, supporting continuity of care and strengthening regional nephrology services.

Job Summary
Answers patient inquiries over the telephone, assessing the severity of the patient's symptoms and medical needs according to triage algorithms. Guides the patient to the appropriate level of care; schedules patient appointments over the phone with appropriate healthcare providers/facilities/physicians. Documents information provided to patients during triage in health record systems; records patients health conditions for follow-up patient care. Maintains and develops triage protocols; ensures patients' healthcare information is updated on time. Role does answer inquiries through multiple variations of technology, depending on department. Educate patients based on calls that come in.
Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor's Degree in nursing preferred.
One year of healthcare experience preferred.
Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Nurses performing nursing practice over the telephone require licensure in the states where the patients being served reside. Within first 30 days of employment, all requirements to obtain license needed for role is completed. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
