We are seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for Surgical Oncology in Duarte CA. You will function as part of a care team who, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary health team, will be responsible for providing comprehensive patient care. You will provide independent and collaborative medical management to a defined patient population, according to standardized procedures and in collaboration with a physician supervisor.
As a successful candidate, you will:
- Provide primary, secondary, and in some cases, tertiary care within scope of practice, licensure, and organizational policies.
- Services provided include, but are not limited to taking histories, conducting physical examinations, ordering, performing, and interpreting appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests and therapies and furnishing drugs and devices in a cost-efficient manner for specific conditions.
- Perform history and physical assessments of patients that are accurate, concise, relevant, and appropriate.
- Document the consultation and new patient note.
- Perform routine procedures, pertinent to the practice and as granted through the privilege process.
- During simple follow-up cases, the you may independently manage patients in follow-up including ordering follow-up imaging, providing medical care, and support to the patient including ordering pharmacological agents.
- Interpret imaging and communicates with attending physician regarding interval patient change.
- Prescribe and council patients on narcotic use safety.
- Demonstrate pharmacologic knowledge including indications, contraindications, side effects, interactions, and adverse effects of pharmacologic agents.
- Review treatment and therapy plans with patients and appropriate family members.
- Practice clinical care informed by evidence-based literature.
- Instruct and counsel patients in matters related to health care management including diet, medication and physical and mental health needs and refers to the appropriate specialists when appropriate.
Your qualifications should include:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with a master?s degree as a Physician Assistant.
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a master?s degree as a Nurse Practitioner
- Oncology experience preferred
- First Assist experience preferred

Street medicine entails using a medically equipped van to deliver medical care directly to people experiencing homelessness in locations such as parking lots, encampments, and parks.
The Peer Navigator supports members who are experiencing/ are at risk of experiencing homeless with managing their own health in the Downtown LA/West Hollywood/Marina Del Rey, CA Area . Assist in motivating behavioral changes in patients to improve health outcomes through education, peer support, housing & resource navigation, and the relaying of shared experience.
At Healthcare in Action, we serve patients experiencing homelessness through an innovative ?street medicine? approach by contracting with Medicare and Medicaid health plans as well as hospitals and health systems.
The Physician Assistant will provide direct patient care to people experiencing homelessness with partner homeless services agencies we work closely with. Meet with patients, perform physicals, discuss symptoms, and educate patients on their condition. Diagnose illnesses, order and interpret laboratory tests and x-rays, prescribe medications, develop and manage treatment plants, and advise patients on preventative care and optimal health practices. Care is delivered directly on the street, encampment, or shelter in the Northern LA County region.
This position requires the use of personal vehicles going out with the teams in the following schedule:
- Monday -Friday: with the Union Station team which alternates days in cities in the SPA 3 area, such as Altadena, Irwindale, Pomona and El Monte.
**Must be able to perform field phlebotomy and perform minor procedures. Must be able to walk distances and potentially hike to reach encampments as well.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct physical exams and assessments including diagnostic exams; take medical histories; diagnose and document patient?s health conditions; conduct wellness exams, administer vaccinations and draw blood for lab tests (if necessary).

We are currently seeking a Consulting Bilingual Armenian Medical Assistant to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing medical assistance and administrative support to our healthcare professionals, while also serving as a critical communication bridge between our team and our Armenian-speaking patients.
You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care and understanding of their health conditions and treatments.
Responsibilities: As a Consulting Bilingual Armenian Medical Assistant, your duties will include but are not limited to: 1.
Assisting healthcare professionals in the delivery of patient care, including patient examination, treatments, and procedures.
2.
Providing interpretation and translation services between the healthcare team and Armenian-speaking patients, ensuring clear and accurate communication.
3.
Managing patient flow to ensure that each patient receives adequate time and attention.
4.
Performing administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and maintaining medical inventory.
5.
Assisting with front office tasks such as check-in/check-out, billing, and insurance verification.
6.
Ensuring compliance with all health care regulations, including patient confidentiality and safety standards.
7.
Providing compassionate care and understanding to patients, addressing their questions and concerns in a professional manner.
Qualifications: To be considered for the Consulting Bilingual Armenian Medical Assistant position, candidates must possess the following: 1.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Office Receptionist or similar role in a healthcare setting.
2.
Fluency in both English and Armenian languages is a must.
This includes the ability to read, write, and speak Armenian proficiently.
3.
Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program is preferred.
4.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology in both English and Armenian.
5.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with patients from diverse backgrounds.
6.
Strong computer skills with proficiency in electronic medical record systems.
7.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
8.
Must possess a high level of professionalism, compassion, and understanding in dealing with sensitive medical issues.
9.
Ability to comply with established procedures and protocols, and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
10.
Flexibility to work varying schedules, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
