Purpose

As we continue to grow and invest in our people, ACME is seeking a Senior CNC Lathe Machinist, responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes and other machining equipment in a production environment.

This role serves as a technical lead within the machining team, supporting part development, optimizing machining processes, and ensuring production quality and efficiency. The position requires strong hands-on machining expertise, CNC programming knowledge, and the ability to troubleshoot complex machining issues.

This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position located on-site at our production facility in Walker, MI.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and optimizeCNC programs for lathe operations to support new and existing production parts
• Lead setup, prove-out, and first article runs for new and repeat jobs
• Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and broaches in a production environment
• Interpret blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T specifications to ensure parts are manufactured to required tolerances
• Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools
• Diagnose and resolve machining, tooling, and equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain production flow
• Optimize feeds, speeds, tooling, and machining processes to improve efficiency, cycle time, and product quality
• Support new part development by determining machining strategies, tooling requirements, and process improvements
• Perform finishing operations such as deburring, keying, balancing, and preparing parts for final packaging
• Maintain equipment and work areas in compliance with 5S and safety standards
• Operate supporting equipment such as forklifts, broaches, and air compressors as needed
• Provide technical guidance and support to machinists and operators on setups, machining techniques, and troubleshooting
• Make recommendations for process improvements, cost reduction, and productivity enhancements
• Comply with all AMG policies, procedures, and safety requirements
• Contribute positively to the team by supporting and assisting fellow machinists and production staff

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Multiple years of prior experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes
• Strong understanding of CNC programming, tooling selection, feeds/speeds, and machining processes
• Proficient in reading blueprints, CAD drawings, GD&T specifications
• Analytical problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machining issues
• Ability to contribute in a cross-collaborative manufacturing environment
• Basic MS Office Word and Excel skills

Requirements

• High school diploma/equivalent or higher
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, and lift up to 75 pounds periodically
• Ability to perform basic math functions

The basic requirements of a woman to serve as a surrogate are:

• Emotionally stable
• Responsible
• In good physical health
• Non-smoker
• Has had at least one successful pregnancy
• Is capable of carrying a child to full term

In Texas, there is a judicial process for validating the Gestational Contract (the contract between the intended parents and the surrogate). Included within the various requirements for having a Gestational Contract validated by a Texas court is that the intended parents must be married and the surrogate must have previously carried a child to term. Additionally, there are residency requirements that apply to either the surrogate or the intended parents, but not both.

Compensation for a surrogate services generally starts in the range of $35,000 - $40,000, for base compensation with over all fees up to 70k, in many cases. The amount of compensation is dependent upon a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, whether the surrogate carries twins, what procedures a surrogate is required to undergo and whether the delivery is vaginally or by cesarean section.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and support a team of hourly employees in our Whey Department, ensuring consistent product quality, team safety, and efficient production each shift!
• Plan and schedule daily staffing to meet production goals while maintaining a safe, collaborative work environment.
• Guide, mentor, and develop team members through coaching, feedback, and ongoing technical and safety training.
• Build a culture of trust and teamwork by communicating clearly and recognizing performance that makes a difference!
• Supervise daily shift operations to meet or exceed established standards for productivity, yield, and product quality.
• Partner with maintenance and quality teams to identify equipment needs and ensure timely repairs that keep production moving.
• Reinforce company policies consistently and fairly while encouraging accountability and engagement.
• Oversee quality systems and sanitation programs that meet all food safety expectations and regulatory requirements.
• Promote and lead safe work practices every day, ensuring employees have the tools and training they need to perform their jobs safely.
• Monitor financial and operational performance, recommending improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce waste.

You Have At Least (Required Qualifications):

• A bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Dairy Technology, or a related field — or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of experience in food manufacturing, with at least 1 year of experience leading, mentoring, or delegating work to others.
• Working knowledge of processing or packaging systems, including equipment operations and troubleshooting.
• Strong computer proficiency and the ability to learn systems such as SAP or other manufacturing software.
• Able to work weekends, swing, and overnight shifts.

We Hope You Also Have (Preferred Qualifications):

• Experience in dairy or cheese manufacturing, particularly in packaging or processing operations.
• Prior supervisory experience in a production or manufacturing setting.
• Technical understanding of packaging systems and mechanical aptitude for diagnosing operational issues.
• Familiarity with HACCP, GMPs, and sanitation practices that ensure food safety excellence!
