ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provides input for colleague’s performance appraisals
· Assists Test Engineers when commissioning new test equipment.
· Provides technical assistance to other technicians on the same shift.
· Provides line support to manufacturing for all test processes.
· Ensures “machine down” calls are responded to in a timely manner.
· Liaises with manufacturing to determine repair priorities.
· Ensures adequate spares are available for all allocated equipment.
· Ensures Preventative Maintenance is carried out at specified intervals on all allocated equipment.
· Liaises with manufacturing to ensure Preventative Maintenance does not impact production schedule.
· Escalates to Test Engineers any unresolved/ongoing issues.
· Instructs operators on safe/effective use of test equipment.
· Provides daily report of all line issues.
· Provides weekly/quarterly downtime reports for allocated equipment.
· Sources spares from the most cost effective supplier.

· Recruit and interview Process Technicians.
· Communicate criteria to recruiters for Process Technician position candidates.

TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
· Review circuit board designs for testability requirements.
· Support manufacturing with failure analysis, tester debugging, reduction of intermittent failures and downtime of test equipment.
· Prepare recommendations for testing and documentation of procedures to be used from the product design phase through to initial production.
· Generate reports and analysis of test data, prepares documentation and recommendations.
· Review test equipment designs, data and RMA issues with customers regularly.
· Design, and direct engineering and technical personnel in fabrication of testing and test control apparatus and equipment.
· Direct and coordinate engineering activities concerned with development, procurement, installation, and calibration of instruments, equipment, and control devices required to test, record, and reduce test data.
· Determine conditions under which tests are to be conducted and sequences and phases of test operations.
· Direct and exercise control over operational, functional, and performance phases of tests.
· Perform moderately complex assignments of the engineering test function for standard and/or custom devices.
· Analyze and interpret test data and prepares technical reports for use by test engineering and management personnel.
· Develop or use computer software and hardware to conduct tests on machinery and equipment.
· Perform semi-routine technique development and maintenance, subject to established Jabil standards, including ISO and QS development standards.
· Provide training in new procedures to production testing staff.
· Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors of Science in Electronics or Electrical Engineering from four-year college or university; and three to five years experience

Manage all planning activities for the dedicated assigned workcell and mentor the Production Planners and Document Coordinators in the workcell.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure 100% on-time delivery.
- Establish build readiness.
- Maintain efficiency of capacity and customer sizing.
- Maintain accurate revenue forecasting.
- Maintain material control and liability.
- Develop Master Production Schedule (MPS) and load into Jabil’s ERP system, including Purchase Order (PO) coverage.
- Reconcile the MPS to customer PO coverage weekly to ensure that Jabil is not exposed over and above customer PO coverage or other authorized customer demand.
- Ensure the MPS is always 100% accurate and achievable.
- Achieve and maintain 95% MPS goal.
- Own production planning, BOM and document control with or without additional support.
- Analyze material and capacity requirements and communicate constraints to the Workcell and customer based on accurate customer demand.
- Maintain the workcell’s capacity planning model; drive resolution on uneven capacity utilization that keeps Jabil focused on the customer but efficiently utilizing manufacturing resources.
- Meet daily with the Workcell and manufacturing team to assess production schedules, (adjust as necessary based on production results) optimize run quantities, and minimize changeovers to help achieve 100% on time delivery.
- Maintain the customers’ latest contract on file at all times and be familiar with the terms and conditions of the contract regarding customer liability of material planning and production scheduling. This includes the liability window for Jabil material purchase order placement, purchase price for components, and liability for any in-house materials (purchased and manufactured).
- Be the workcell’s “expert” on all planning activities by supporting the Production Planner goal of never starting to build product without having a valid PO, adequate material quantities, and accurate BOM and an accurate routing.
- Lead the Workcell on the creation of Bills of Material (BOMs) and routings that allows accurate tracking of WIP assemblies and accurate inventory movement transactions.
- End-of Life (EOL) management should include chairing a meeting 30 days prior to the last planned build date to create tactics to support the EOL strategy. The Master Planner would own the build schedule, corrections and resolution of MPS to customer demand, planned tactics on deadlines for assemblies out of the various work areas on the floor, deadline for last shipment, and support plan for potential RMAs.
- Manage Jabil purge process for internal Workcell purges.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

- Thorough knowledge of MRP, lead times for specific component types, internal run rates, test development lead times, machine programming lead times and complete understanding of the chronological sequence of events that must occur in order to build a product.

The SMT Process Engineer IV is a senior-level technical expert responsible for optimizing and maintaining surface mount technology (SMT) processes to ensure high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective electronic assembly. This role involves advanced troubleshooting, process development, and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple SMT lines, often acting as a lead or mentor within the engineering team.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and optimization of complex SMT processes, including stencil printing, pick-and-place FUJI, reflow soldering, and automated optical inspection (AOI).
- Conduct advanced root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for SMT process defects (e.g., shorts, opens, voids, component placement issues) using statistical process control (SPC) and other analytical tools.
- Design and execute experiments (DOE) to improve SMT process robustness, yield, and throughput, focusing on new product introduction (NPI) and existing product enhancements.
- Collaborate with design engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability (DFM) and resolve complex technical issues related to SMT assembly.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation, work instructions, and training materials for SMT operators and technicians.
- Evaluate and recommend new SMT equipment, materials, and technologies to enhance capabilities and improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and manufacturing personnel on SMT best practices and problem-solving techniques.
- Drive continuous improvement projects using Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste and increase productivity within SMT operations.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for SMT processes and present findings and recommendations to management.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and quality management systems (e.g., ISO, IPC).
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field. Master's degree preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in SMT process engineering within a high-volume electronics manufacturing environment.
- Expert-level knowledge of SMT equipment (e.g., printers, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, AOI/SPI) from various manufacturers (e.g., Fuji, Universal, Koh Young, Agilent).
- Deep understanding of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards.
- Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), and advanced problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, Six Sigma).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and drive process improvements.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor others.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for SMT programming and DFM analysis is a plus.

OverviewThe Sales Consultant represents Southern Glazer’s in the market as a member of the Southern Glazer’s family.
