Job Description:
BMF is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Precision Manufacturing Engineering Lead to join and guide our growing team. In this leadership role, you will oversee and mentor a team of engineers and technicians, driving excellence across our precision additive manufacturing operations and customer applications.
This is a hands-on leadership position where you will not only direct and develop the team but also work directly with BMFโs precision additive manufacturing systems. Youโll be actively engaged in running, maintaining, and optimizing the printers, including those configured for ceramic materials, to ensure process consistency, quality, and efficiency across all production activities.
You will play a key role in advancing our applications expertise, pushing the boundaries of ceramic and polymer 3D printing materials, and ensuring that all production and application development efforts meet the rigorous standards required for a precision manufacturing environment. This position combines hands-on technical execution, materials understanding, strategic leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure consistent, high-quality, and compliant results.
As the Precision Manufacturing Engineering Lead, you will:
- Hands-On Production & Workflow Management:ย Actively operate, maintain, and optimize BMFโs 3D printer fleet at the Maynard, MA facilityโincluding systems dedicated to ceramic and other advanced materials. Manage daily print operations, production scheduling, and throughput while ensuring quality control, compliance with applicable standards and regulations, and adherence to precision manufacturing practices. Lead by example through hands-on engagement in production activities. Develop and optimize 3D printing parameters and processes to achieve precise, repeatable, and high-quality outcomes across ceramics, polymers, and composite materials.
- Leadership & Best Practices:ย Lead and supervise the Applications Engineering team, setting priorities, allocating resources, and fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. Maintain and enforce best practices essential for a precision manufacturing environment, ensuring all processes, documentation, and production protocols uphold the highest standards of accuracy, repeatability, quality, and compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements beyond ISO frameworks.
- Materials Integration:ย Design and execute experiments to evaluate and qualify both internally developed and third-party materialsโincluding ceramic resins and specialty formulationsโfor use on BMF systems. Drive materials innovation and integration to expand the range of applications and performance capabilities.
- Sales Collaboration:ย Partner closely with the Sales Team to address unique customer challenges, translating technical insights into practical solutions. Communicate directly with customers to ensure alignment, satisfaction, and long-term success.
- Industry Insights:ย Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and evolving use cases in precision ceramics and additive manufacturing. Leverage this knowledge to guide strategic direction, ensure compliance with evolving regulations, and maintain BMFโs leadership in micro-precision 3D printing.
Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience printing with ceramic materials and an understanding of their behavior, post-processing requirements, and design considerations.
- Broader materials background with knowledge of polymers, composites, and resin chemistries.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in setting up, maintaining, and optimizing best practices and workflows in a precision manufacturing environment.

Sr. Manufacturing/Assembly Process Engineer
- Develop the plans and work instructions for the successful handling, manipulation, guidance, and general integration of sub-system components
- Assist in finalizing the strategy for each assembly step, as well active collaboration with the system teams to find the optimum assembly steps, tools, methods, strategies, safety measures, specifications, and other details
- Within the plan development, ensuring tool and personnel access is available as required for system assembly steps as outlined by the system owners
- Be responsible for the plans for part movement at each step and checking for no interferences with other systems during movement and part placement
- Be responsible for construction of the assembly work instruction packets for all sub-assemblies, and the incorporation of them into the assembly work orders to create the optimum assembly and testing sequence
- Provide assistance in development and improvement of the work instruction packet and work order creation process to increase standardization, efficiency, safety, clarity, and overall good communication of the instructions for the success of the assembly process
- Participate in collaborative work with the assembly engineers, tooling engineers, designers, coordinators, as well as direct personnel performing the System Assembly during on-site work
Requirements/Experience:
- At least 2 years technical experience in the integration of complex and large mechanical structures (e.g. aerospace, chemical) and experience in work instruction packet creation

We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead all Quality operations within a growing aerospace/advanced manufacturing environment. This role oversees quality systems, compliance, audits, supplier management, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, deep understanding of AS9100, and the ability to drive a highโperforming quality culture.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Quality team through coaching, training, performance reviews, and career planning.
- Manage and maintain all aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS), including AS9100 compliance, audits, and procedure updates.
- Oversee monthly/annual metrics, documentation control, ECO processing, and risk & opportunity tracking.
- Manage CAPA processes (customer, supplier, internal), NMR/MRB workflows, and GIDEP alerts.

The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer (Data Center Infrastructure) is a technical leader responsible for the architecture, integration, and validation of advanced mechanical systems supporting hyperscale data center environments. This role requires deep expertise in liquid cooling technologies (single-phase and two-phase), hydronic system design, structural integration, and manufacturable rack-level infrastructure solutions.
This role is responsible for defining system performance requirements, developing technical specifications, selection and integration of critical components, and leading mechanical design from concept through production release. Responsibilities include wetted material selection, thermal and structural analysis, fastening strategies, component layout, and design for manufacturability. Partners cross-functionally to deliver reliable, scalable, and cost-effective Data Center Infrastructure solutions while advancing innovation in liquid cooling performance.
What will you do?
- Lead the end-to-end mechanical design and engineering of hyperscale Data Center Infrastructure (DCI) systems, including liquid-cooled rack assemblies, CDUs, manifolds, enclosures, structural frames, and associated hydronic piping systems.
- Serve as the technical authority for single-phase and two-phase liquid cooling architectures, including primary and secondary loop design, in-rack distribution, and system integration within hyperscale data center environments.
- Define and validate operational performance requirements for liquid-cooled infrastructure, including pressure ratings, hydrostatic limits, temperature ranges, flow rates and uniformity, thermal expansion, durability, and serviceability.
- Design, analyze, and validate machined components, welded fabrications, manifolds, and structural systems using advanced engineering principles, including stress analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), flow modeling, and structural load calculations to ensure mechanical integrity and code compliance.
- Lead wetted material selection and compatibility analysis for liquid cooling systems, including corrosion mitigation strategies, surface treatments, cleanliness standards, and long-term durability considerations.
- Develop and review CAD models and complete technical data packages using CREO, SolidWorks, or equivalent tools; ensure design accuracy, manufacturability, and system-level integration.
- Author and approve technical specifications for piping systems, rack-level cooling infrastructure, and hydronic components, including installation guidelines, maintenance procedures, testing requirements, and compliance with applicable standards (ASME, ISO).
- Establish and oversee validation protocols including hydrostatic pressure testing, leak detection and mitigation, flow resistance analysis, and corrosion verification to ensure regulatory compliance and operational reliability.
- Evaluate customer design proposals and technical specifications to assess feasibility, manufacturability, cost, and risk; provide recommendations to optimize performance and total cost of ownership.
- Lead cross-functional design reviews with electrical, thermal, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure full system integration and compliance with product specifications and applicable plumbing and hydronic codes.
- Optimize rack manifold design and manufacturing processes, including machining, welding, surface finishing, connection interfaces, venting and draining strategies, and flow path optimization to enhance performance and manufacturability.
- Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing assembly methods and tooling in collaboration with production teams and equipment vendors to improve quality, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Lead root cause investigations for complex mechanical failures identified during validation or field deployment and implement corrective design improvements.
- Provide technical leadership in vendor qualification and management for mechanical components and liquid cooling subsystems.

Develops proficiency in financial, medical, and lay underwriting assessments and provides innovations solutions to keep Northwestern Mutual as the choice of our customers.
Actively utilizes the most effective means to obtain the necessary information, including digital health data, Internet searches, direct contact with the insured, and communication with third party advisors (Accountants, Attorneys, etc.) with limited guidance.
Discusses cases with peer reviewers with medical and technical staff, as needed. โ
Understands and meets all quality, service, and production goalsโ.
Solves issues & escalations, with guidance as needed. โ
Partners with Underwriting Support for case management
Cross-functional leadership

Qualifications
A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
1.5 years of traditional underwriting experience.
Analytical skills with the ability to make independent decisions and apply sound judgment in the application of rules.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to handle confidential information, and exercise tact, diplomacy, and resourcefulness.
Proficient in computer skills and using various software packages.
Ability to work accurately while maintaining speed and flexibility in a team and independent production environment.
Highly organized with the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
Displays agility to manage multiple tasksโ and adapt in a changing work environment.
