Kaplan Trucking, in business since 1934, is one of the most experienced flatbed trucking companies in the United States, specializing in steel hauling while also transporting commodities including aluminum, pipe, machinery, and building products.
We are looking for a highly motivated, career-minded individual to join our growing operation in Ghent, Kentucky as an Operations/Dispatch/Sales Trainee.
This position, which is full-time/on-site in our Ghent, Kentucky office, provides an entry-level opportunity to learn the world of flatbed/steel hauling trucking.

Qualifications & Interpersonal Skills:
- 1-2 years of business experience strongly preferred
- Enjoy interacting with and assisting others
- Take pride in and ownership of your work; you are willing to “roll up your sleeves” to get the job done and would say you have a strong work ethic
- Strong communicator, whether in-person, on the phone, or using email
- Self-driven, self-starter who isn’t afraid of working in a fast-paced environment

- Value follow-up and believe it’s important to make sure that everyone around you has the information they need so nothing “falls through the cracks”

Initial Sample Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Answering inbound calls from truck drivers in a professional manner and routing their phone calls to the correct person in the office
- Mastering the accurate data entry of customer loads for the office
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to dispatch activities
Eventual Sample Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Scheduling and dispatching truck drivers
- Monitoring and tracking shipments to ensure safe, on-time delivery
- Communicating with drivers, customers, and other stakeholders to provide updates and resolve issues in a timely manner
Work Schedule & Benefits:

Physical Demands of the Position:
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to stand, walk, and sit; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; and reach with hands and arms to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds.

Basic Job Functions: Nucor Tubular Products
- Gallatin is seeking applicants for the Shipping Supervisor position.
The Shipping Supervisor is primarily responsible for leading and developing team members, while focusing on a strategy and vision that aligns with division and corporate goals.
This includes setting expectations that ensure safe operations and efficient flow of our production floor, managing costs, educating the team on business dynamics, preparing proposals and justifications for projects, and driving personal development for each teammate.
The successful candidate will lead and develop a team that properly manages producing products from raw materials to shipping finished product that exceeds our customers’ expectation, as well as develop and foster successful relationships with internal and external customers and focus on regular interactions with scheduling/production control, sales, and other divisions to ensure shipments are scheduled properly and on-time delivery is a priority.
Supervisors are also expected to work collaboratively to assure the best interests of Nucor Tubular Group are met while guiding the team to success in terms of safety and personal development.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, and weekends.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications: Prior leadership experience Preferred Qualifications: Strong computer skillset Understands inventory management Actively engaged in Safety performance and improvements 3+ years experience in a production/material handling role
