The Category Manager is responsible for:
  • Delivering on Trader Joe's Category Vision everyday for their assigned Category (Coffee) while also being responsible for product value, selection, vendor relations, fulfillment measures, negotiations, and inventory quality.
  • Being an expert on Category trends and seasonality creating a WOW! selection everyday.
  • Staying abreast to trends and seasonality within the entire coffee industry while staying informed on commodity coffee costs, differentials, grower and roaster capacity.
  • Partnering with Merchandising leadership to set and achieve sales, margin, SKU count and sales dollar/unit minimum targets.
  • Managing vendors to deliver Value on an ongoing basis while staying informed about vendor capacity and ensures that vendors deliver on their product quality through QC tasting and store feedback.
  • Working with different internal teams from partnering with Product Development to actively diversify our coffee vendor base or supporting our Replenishment Buyers to achieve fulfillment goals such as fill-rate, TOS and inventory quality goals.
  • Maintaining a Shopping List of needed new products to ensure the Category is exceeding customer's expectations and is able to develop and introduce new coffee products while being knowledgeable about the product, it's relevance to the category and the value it offers.
  • Having a deep knowledge of their category and Trader Joe's product diversity.
  • Working collaboratively with other departments.
The Category Manager has:
  • At least 5 years of experience in the Coffee industry required and a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience.
  • Experience in green coffee buying, coffee roasting/production and product development.
  • Exceptional communication skills with internal and external stakeholders including expert negotiation skills with a focus on building respectful relationships with our vendor partners.
  • A comfort with retail-based mathematics and is proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in buying and sourcing of new food products with an understanding of how to evaluate quality, manage fulfillment goals and partnering with larger Product teams.

The Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the development and execution of the company’s comprehensive marketing strategy to drive brand awareness, revenue growth, and market expansion. This role provides strategic direction across digital, print, event, and content marketing initiatives while managing performance metrics, budgets, and vendor partnerships.

 

The Marketing Manager collaborates cross-functionally with leadership, sales, operations, and external partners to ensure alignment with business objectives and delivers measurable marketing results. This position also oversees and develops marketing team members, fostering innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with company growth objectives.
  • Lead brand positioning and ensure consistent messaging across all platforms and channels.
  • Identify new market opportunities, target segments, and geographic expansion strategies.
  • Recommend and implement data-driven marketing initiatives to increase customer acquisition and retention.

Campaign & Digital Marketing Management

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and optimization of multi-channel marketing campaigns.
  • Lead digital marketing strategy, including website management, SEO/SEM, email campaigns, and social media initiatives to drive traffic, engagement, and brand recognition.
  • Ensure timely communication of campaign objectives, deliverables, and timelines to internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Monitor KPIs and marketing analytics, providing actionable insights and performance reporting to leadership.
  • New website design and project management in collaboration with selected agency

Market Research & Competitive Intelligence

  • Analyze market trends, customer behavior, forecasts, and competitor activity to inform strategy.
  • Translate research findings into practical marketing initiatives and business recommendations.

Event & Trade Show Leadership

  • Oversee marketing efforts for trade shows, conferences, customer events, and corporate meetings.
  • Ensure cohesive branding, messaging, and measurable ROI for all event initiatives.

Content & Brand Management

  • Direct the creation of marketing materials, including digital content, print collateral, blogs, newsletters, and promotional materials.
  • Maintain oversight of the company website and ensure content accuracy, relevance, and brand alignment.
  • Manage the development and maintenance of marketing asset libraries and brand standards.

Budget & Vendor Management

  • Develop, manage, and optimize the annual marketing and event budget.
  • Oversee relationships with external vendors, agencies, designers, and printers to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage, mentor, and develop marketing team members.
  • Establish performance expectations, provide coaching, and promote professional growth.
  • Foster a collaborative, results-oriented team environment.

 

Performance & Accountability

  • Establish marketing targets aligned with company objectives and ensure achievement of measurable results.
  • Ownership of CRM system– hygiene, top of funnel, and training
  • Regularly present campaign performance, ROI, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Promote and exemplify company values in Safety, Customer Focus, Teamwork, Integrity, and operational excellence.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field required.
  • 5–10 years of progressive marketing experience, including strategic planning and execution.
  • Proven experience managing and developing a team.
  • Demonstrated success leading multi-channel marketing campaigns and measuring ROI.
  • Experience in event marketing and trade show coordination preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and market insights.
  • Exceptional organizational, project management, and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have foundational computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook email and calendaring), Excel, Word, Autodesk Fabrication

Responsibilities:

Customer Engagement & Support

  • Greet customers as they arrive at the dealership in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Helping customers explore vehicles that match their needs and preferences.
  • Providing detailed information about vehicle features, benefits, and options.
  • Arranging and accompanying customers on test drives, and answering questions about the vehicle.


Process Assistance

  • Assisting customers throughout the buying process, including discussing finance and lease options (as appropriate).
  • Coordinating with other departments (e.g., finance, service) to support customer needs.
  • Using the CRM system to record customer interactions and follow-up activities.


Follow-Up & Relationship Building

  • Following up with prospective customers to answer questions or offer updated inventory and prices.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with previous customers to encourage return visits and referrals.


Product Knowledge & Presentation

  • Staying up-to-date on product knowledge (vehicle models, features, incentives, etc).
  • Ensuring vehicles are clean, presented well, and properly displayed for customers. 
Qualifications:
  • Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with customers and explain vehicle features clearly.
  • Customer Service Focus: Strong customer service orientation with the ability to build rapport and maintain positive interactions.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Friendly, outgoing, and professional demeanor; ability to work well with a diverse team and customer base.
  • Computer Proficiency: Comfortable using CRM systems and dealership software to manage customer information and follow‑ups.
  • Work Ethic & Motivation: Self‑motivated, goal‑oriented, and able to work in a fast‑paced, performance‑driven environment.
