Position Summary

The Community Mediation Case Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for San Diego County community members seeking conflict resolution services. This role manages intake and screening, coordinates mediation logistics, provides conflict coaching when appropriate, and ensures timely, accurate documentation in alignment with NCRC protocols and mediation ethics. The Coordinator communicates frequently with clients, mediators, partners, and referring agencies to move cases forward. The Coordinator serves as a knowledgeable representative of NCRC, ensuring that outreach efforts are accessible, culturally responsive, and aligned with the organization's mission to promote constructive dialogue and equitable conflict resolution across diverse communities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Intake & Assessment

•Receive referrals and inbound requests; conduct intake interviews and screen cases for mediation appropriateness.

•Explain program scope, process, confidentiality, and participant expectations; provide information and resources.

•Offer conflict coaching or conciliation when mediation is not appropriate or when parties are not ready to participate.

Case Coordination & Logistics

•Coordinate case logistics, including mediator assignment, scheduling, interpreter needs, space or virtual platform setup, and materials.

•Communicate with clients, mediators, attorneys, courts, and community partners to facilitate case progress.

•Monitor caseload, timelines, and follow‐ups to meet program service standards and turnaround goals.

Documentation, Data, and Quality

•Document all contacts, case notes, agreements, and outcomes in the case management system with accuracy and timeliness.

•Safeguard confidentiality and maintain neutrality in accordance with mediation ethics and NCRC policies.

•Track and report data (e.g., caseload, stage, outcomes, demographics) to support grants, contracts, and continuous improvement.

Client Care & Communications

•Use trauma‐informed, culturally responsive, and inclusive communication practices with all participants.

•De‐escalate highly charged conversations; exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations.

•Provide referrals to community resources when mediation is not suitable or additional support is needed.

Outreach & Education Support

• Raise community awareness about available mediation and conflict resolution services.

•Share program information with partner organizations.

•Attend community events as needed.

•Assist with the preparation of educational materials or presentations.

Minimum Qualifications

•Certificate in Mediation/ADR or 1–2 years of relevant experience (mediation, conflict coaching, restorative practices, or similar).

•Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., social sciences, criminal justice, conflict resolution) or equivalent experience.

•Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent listening and customer service orientation.

•Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, neutrality, and professional boundaries.

•Experience working effectively with diverse communities across cultures, identities, and perspectives.

•Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and the ability to learn case management databases and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom/Teams).

•Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‐paced environment with attention to detail and follow‐through.

Preferred Qualifications

•Bilingual or multilingual (Spanish, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Arabic, Burmese, etc.).

•Knowledge of the California court system and community resources.

•Experience with community mediation programs, small‐claims or housing matters, or court‐connected mediation.

Schedule & Work Environment

This is a hybrid position with three in‐office days and two remote days per week based on program needs. Regular in‐office work occurs at the NCRC City Heights location. Schedules may be adjusted to meet client and program requirements, including occasional evenings or weekends for mediations or events. Ability to attend mandatory staff meetings and organizational events is required.

Compensation

Hourly range is $23 -$25/hour (non‐exempt)/Annualized at $47,840 to $52,000. Pay is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

We are seeking a Junior Outside Machinist to provide support at Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) Product Family located in San Diego, CA. This Junior Outside Machinist will be responsible for accomplishing mechanical repairs and testing onboard ships and in the shop. To include the removal, repair, overhaul, installation, alignment, troubleshooting, modifying, and testing on ship's mechanical systems and equipment.
What You Will Do
  • Must be able to accomplish mechanical repairs and testing onboard ships and in the shop. Work includes removal, repair, overhaul, installation, alignment, troubleshooting, modifying, and testing on ship's mechanical systems, equipment, and components including:
    • Antenna tilting groups (ATGs), twin and single boom.
    • Boat davit equipment, including nitrogen accumulators. System nitrogen charging, hydro testing, and functional/operational testing of related systems.
    • Torpedo strike down equipment, including lift and dogging hatch actuator cylinders.
    • Various types and sizes of hydraulic and pneumatic pumps, including centrifugal pumps, vane pumps, sliding shoe pumps, piston pumps, and closed and open-ended pumps. Additionally, related couplings, mechanical seals, and other pump-related components.
    • Capstans, winches, anchor windlasses, steering pumps, sliding pad eyes, and towed array mechanical equipment. Includes equipment brakes and slew motor gear assemblies.
    • Mag cable reel brake systems.
    • Slew motors, luff cylinders, and hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders and related components.
    • Retractable bitts and roller chocks, Baxter bolts, and deck drains.

  • Must be able to disassemble, clean, inspect, and assess equipment parts and components to determine the extent of wear and damage in justification of recommendations for reuse or disposal of assemblies and components.
  • Identify materials and parts requiring replacement on equipment, components, and subassemblies being worked on. Provide materials and parts replacement recommendations to the Government.
  • Protect machined and critical surfaces during removal. Install foreign material exclusion (FME) coverings on all openings. Identify, tag, and inspect system, equipment, and piping components, connections, fasteners, and parts for reinstallation or replacement.
  • Perform pump and motor alignments using Rotoalign laser alignment optics and reverse indicator methods.
  • Ensure all removed interferences are correctly reinstalled as part of completion for all shipboard work.
  • Must be able to drill, tap, thread, and clean various deck and equipment fastener/fastener hole threads, including deck drains and Baxter bolts.
  • Identify materials and parts requiring replacement on equipment, components, and subassemblies. Provide materials and parts replacement recommendations to the Government.

  • High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 4 years of related experience. Prefer technical/professional certifications.
  • Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
  • Must be able to compete OHSA 10, CPR, low speed vehicle training (for operation of carts), and completion of PQS 301 Craftsman qualification within ninety (90) days of providing direct support.

We are seeking an Inside Machinist to provide support at Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) Product Family located in San Diego, CA. This Inside Machinist will be responsible for machine, fabricate, and refurbish newly designed and replacement shipboard components utilizing templates and technical documentation, including ships' drawings. Work includes removing, repairing, manufacturing new parts, modifying, and testing various shipboard components. Providing Journeyman-level support with minimum supervision, exercising independent judgment and decision-making within the framework of oral and written guidance, accepted trade practices, processes, and procedures while accomplishing assignments.
What You Will Do

  • Determine speeds and feeds, coolants, and lubricants or abrasives to be used to cut, turn, drill, mill, bore, tap, thread, ream, lap, hone, shape, and grind or finish items. Machine materials include stainless steel, Monel, K-Monel, copper, brass, aluminum, nylon, Teflon, and various plastics.
  • Follow procedures set forth in FWP and CWP. Work to the requirements of applicable ship drawings, blueprints, technical manuals, and other approved technical references. Shop mathematics, including trigonometry and geometry, used to hold tolerances to one ten-thousandth of an inch.
  • Maintain dimensional accuracy by inspecting parts using various precision measuring instruments, including sine plates, comparators, micrometers, calipers, v-blocks, angle plates, indicators, dial height gauges, go/no-go gauges, thread gauges, surface gauges, and other measuring tools.
  • Utilize bench tools, including files, deburring tools, file brushes, die handles, tap handles, mallets, spanner wrenches, combination squares, standard mechanic's tools, and sandpaper/emery cloth.
  • Determine which machine tool is most effective and establish the proper sequence of operations on each machine.
  • Utilize lathe turning tools, boring bars, inner diameter (ID) groovers, outer diameter (OD) groovers, part-off tools, facing tools, special tools, and knurling tools. Set up and operate conventional machine tools, including horizontal lathes, vertical turret lathes, horizontal boring machines, radial arm drills, vertical and horizontal milling machines, bench grinders, ID and OD grinders, surface grinders, jig boring machines, hones, and other manual machine tools.
  • Sharpen drills and reamers using drill sharpeners. Sharpen high-speed and carbide cutting tools, including turning tools, threading tools, boring bars, end mills, taps, and mill cutters, using tool grinding machines, including carbide grinders and pedestal grinders.
  • Set up and operate saws, including cut-off saws, abrasive cut-off saws, sheet metal brakes, hydraulic presses, hand presses, parts tumblers, belt sanders, and heat-treating and hardening ovens.
  • Proficient in the following areas: program computer numeric control (CNC) machining centers and lathes; manually program CNC lathes; set up and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC milling centers; program and edit programs for CNC machining centers; manually input (MDI) machine operations; and set up and operate single and multiple spindle CNC lathes. Set hard jaws and cut soft jaws to hold outside and inside diameters, touch off tools using tool eye and manual touch-off methods, and apply tool, wear, and work offsets. Knowledge of insert grades and radii, as well as proper use of tool and work offsets on CNC machining centers and lathes, is required.
  • Inspect parts using various setups, including sine plates, comparators, magnetic v-blocks, angle plates, indicators, dial height gauges, jack stands, gauge block stack-ups, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs).
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance in 3D printing/additive manufacturing, including advancements in technology, equipment, and techniques. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on 3D printing/additive manufacturing machines and equipment.
  • Provide support as a Tool Room Attendant:Issue, receive, stow, and organize tool room supplies and equipment. Perform research to identify replacement supplies, tools, and equipment. Maintain accurate and complete logs of tools and items issued to and received from workers, search for lost or misplaced tools, prepare perpetual and periodic inventories, unpack and organize new tools/items, and submit requests for requisition of replacement tools/items to Government personnel. Inspect tools, parts, and equipment for defects, wear, and damage, perform maintenance, and engrave or attach identification tags.
