We are partnering with a well-established manufacturing company to identify a driven and experienced Outbound Logistics Manager to lead their transportation and distribution operations across their Newberry/Estill, SC facilities. Role Overview
Reporting to the Materials Manager, the Outbound Logistics Manager will lead the outbound operations logistics team, overseeing cost-effective, efficient, and timely transportation services in support of the business. This leader will manage a team of coordinators and shipping/receiving staff while serving as the primary point of contact for all outbound logistics activities across the Composites Operations locations.
Essential Functions
- Lead and manage the outbound logistics team based in Newberry/Estill, SC
- Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team of coordinators and shipping/receiving members
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with transportation providers
- Support the effective use of transportation management systems and operational tools
- Provide operational leadership to meet and exceed customer fulfillment requirements and cost objectives
- Ensure efficient management of shipments and documentation related to movement, loading, and deliveries
- Adhere to established transportation policies, procedures, and objectives
- Develop, maintain, and analyze KPI data to ensure team and carrier performance (SQDC & Performance Boards)
- Assist in investigating and resolving customer or shipper complaints
- Coordinate domestic orders with shipping, marketing, and carriers for timely and cost-effective delivery
- Communicate shipping schedules with customers and coordinate delivery appointments with carriers
- Manage all truckload shipments from Composites Operations locations and finishing service providers
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, OR
- Associate's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, OR
- 10+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
Experience & Skills:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment (Logistics, Supply Chain, Sales, or Customer Service)
- Demonstrated supervisory or management experience
- Production control/supply chain management experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of TMS and MRP/ERP systems
- Solid understanding of local, state, and federal transportation regulations
- Advanced problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Change management experience — ability to drive focus, urgency, and accountability
- Ability to coordinate logistics moves in a cost-effective and time-critical manner
- Strong data analysis skills with the ability to drive operational improvements
- Excellent planning and organizational skills; able to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Outstanding oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Professional demeanor in all interactions with colleagues, carriers, customers, and vendors
