POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Information Technology is responsible for aligning technology, data, and systems with business strategy in a large-scale electrical construction environment. This role is highly operational and service-oriented, with a strong focus on execution and communication. The Director ensures technology supports growth, improves productivity, maintains strong internal controls, and enhances the day-to-day experience for all field and office employees.

POSITION FUNCTIONS

Leadership and Organization

• Provide strategic and operational leadership to the IT and Data Analytics functions, fostering a cohesive, collaborative, and service-driven culture.
• Lead and develop managers across multiple functions within the department, aligning priorities and breaking down silos.
• Continuously assess and strengthen talent, capabilities and structure through development, upskilling, and role evaluation to build a high-performing organization.
• Grow and organize the department to be scalable, disciplined, and aligned with business needs.

Communication and Collaboration

• Serve as a trusted business partner to executive leadership and functional leaders within Service Electric Company and Quanta Services.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with technical teams, non-technical stakeholders, and field leadership.
• Bring teams together around shared goals, priorities, and execution plans.

Technology and Operations

• Ensure reliable, secure, and efficient IT operations supporting a geographically dispersed workforce of 2,000+ field employees.
• Oversee infrastructure, applications, ERP, field systems, and end-user support.
• Coordinate with Quanta Services on cybersecurity.
• Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities where technology can streamline workflows, reduce friction, and improve productivity.
• Drive the mindset of technology as a growth enabler, not overhead.

Data and Analytics

• Oversee the Data Analytics function to ensure timely, accurate, and actionable reporting utilizing various platforms.
• Champion data governance, data quality, and standardized metrics across the organization.
• Enable company leaders with insights that support operational efficiency, financial performance, and strategic decision-making.

Project and Change Management

• Lead or oversee technology and data initiatives from concept through execution working closely with leaders within Service Electric Company and Quanta Services.
• Establish disciplined project management

Public Company Standards and Compliance

• Ensure IT systems and processes support SOX compliance and strong internal controls.
• Partner closely with Finance, Internal Audit, and external auditors.
• Document, test, and continuously improve IT controls and processes.
• Maintain appropriate security, access controls, and segregation of duties.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including managing supervisory employees, required.
• Experience in a public company environment, with direct exposure to SOX and internal controls, required.
• Proven ability to lead operationally focused IT organizations, required.
• Strong background overseeing enterprise systems, infrastructure, and analytics, required.
• Demonstrated success leading cross-functional projects and driving change, required.
• Experience in construction, engineering, or industrial services, preferred.
• Exposure to ERP systems and field workforce technologies, preferred.
• Formal project management experience or certification, preferred.
• Experience scaling IT organizations in growing companies, preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform all aspects of project engineering including design, procurement, construction management, installation, and qualification.
• Plan, establish budgets, develop complex schedules and coordinate resources to ensure delivery of scope, schedule, budget, and cash flow for all projects.
• Drive results in Engineering metrics and own the following (KPIs): Budget Adherence %, Cash Flow Adherence %, Vertical Startup Adherence %, Critical Success Factor Adherence %, Projects Submitted, Projects Approved, CAPEX $ Spent vs Annual Budget.
• Site liaison and team participant for projects that are being executed by non site-based engineering resources.
• Champion Early Equipment Management (EEM) program including optimization, maintenance, retirement, and Startup Management (SUM).
• Develops cost estimates and conceptual designs for new products, line extensions, and packaging operations.
• Develop standards for equipment, systems, and engineering processes for assigned functional area and collaborate with other global technical teams.
• Works with Operations and Maintenance teams to troubleshoot, modify, and improve packaging and processing equipment.
• Collaborates with Department Managers to improve productivity through process changes, equipment replacement, or additional equipment.
• Champion Safety objectives; strive for zero incidents and supports a people-centered safety culture within the maintenance and engineering teams.
• Provide leadership and coaching to continuously improve the effectiveness of the technical function.
• Strict adherence to Company and OSHA safety requirements, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Compliance, and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulatory standards.
• Maintain compliance with all state and federal regulations.
• Support reduction in environmental impacts across all sites, including energy savings and utility monitoring.
• Establish and maintain constant communication across all levels of the organization.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:

• Key skills; Project engineering including design, procurement, construction management, installation, and qualification.
• 2D/3D CAD experience (AutoCAD or Solidworks) and drawing development.
• 2+ years of project management, process design, manufacturing, and contractor supervision
• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical)
• Project Management Professional Certification
• Professional Engineer Certification
• 2+ years of project management, process design, manufacturing, and contractor supervision.
• Must be well rounded with a solid grasp of many engineering disciplines as well as plant operations and construction.
• Proven track record developing and executing major, complex projects (over $1MM).
• Experience with technical writing via establishing Work Instructions, SOPs, and OPLs
• Mechanical aptitude & Critical Thinking Skills.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to connect with all levels of the organization.
• Expert planning, organization, and time management skills.

About The Position

Primarily responsible for creating electrical drawings and associated documents for retrofit control panel projects supporting asphalt plant automation systems. Works from field audit documentation to develop complete drawing packages for panel manufacturing. Collaborates with Project Engineers and manufacturing to ensure drawings meet project requirements and production needs.

Key Deliverables

Prepares detailed electrical control panel drawings including schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and I/O assignments

• Creates electrical bills of material and purchased parts lists from drawing packages
• Develops drawing packages from field audit documentation provided by Project Engineers
• Interacts with Project Engineers and manufacturing to confirm requirements and resolve design questions
• Coordinates with Procurement to ensure long lead time items are identified early
• Supports manufacturing with drawing clarifications during panel build

Key Activities & Responsibilities

• Create retrofit panel drawings using EPLAN, maintaining compatibility with legacy AutoCAD documentation
• Work within established drawing standards and templates
• Generate accurate BOMs from completed drawings
• Respond to drawing questions from Controls Center manufacturing team
• Document design decisions and maintain project drawing files
• Supports the project process by reviewing field audit documentation and attending project kickoff meetings to confirm design requirements
• Supports as necessary lending assistance in electrical and controls troubleshooting
• Collaborative electrical print checking
• Timely and accurate correction/resolution of drawing errors
• Engage in Continuous Improvement projects and activities as assigned

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:

• Associates degree or a minimum of two years of equivalent knowledge/experience in electrical design or related field
• Experience with EPLAN required; AutoCAD experience preferred
• Knowledge of the National Electric Code and UL 508A panel requirements
• Ability to select proper components, size starters, breakers, wiring and conduit
• Ability to read electrical ladder diagrams and control schematics
• Knowledge of PLCs and industrial control system components
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work from field documentation
• Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines

Office Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works primarily in an office environment using computer-based design tools. Duties include extended computer work, sitting or standing at a workstation. The employee may occasionally visit the Controls Center manufacturing facility to support panel builds or resolve drawing questions.
