Position Overview


The Lead Engineer – Engineering Tools is responsible for providing advanced engineering and technical support for the design, development, and manufacturing of standard and customized products. This role involves working closely with sales, manufacturing, and customers to ensure product designs meet technical specifications, quality standards, and operational requirements.


The engineer will play a key role in product design, analysis, quoting, and continuous improvement, while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.


Key Responsibilities

1. Product Design & Engineering

  • Design and develop standard and custom-engineered products based on customer specifications
  • Create and review engineering drawings, models, and product documentation
  • Ensure designs meet performance, safety, and certification requirements

2. Engineering Analysis

  • Perform stress calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate product designs
  • Analyze mechanical integrity, durability, and performance under operating conditions
  • Support troubleshooting and design optimization efforts

3. Technical Support

  • Provide technical guidance to sales, manufacturing, and customers
  • Support product selection and configuration activities
  • Communicate technical requirements and solutions effectively with internal and external stakeholders

4. Systems & Documentation

  • Input and maintain technical data in systems such as:
  • CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote)
  • ERP systems
  • Ensure accuracy of:
  • Engineering procedures
  • Product descriptions and attributes
  • Installation instructions
  • Bills of materials (BOMs)

5. Quotation & Costing

  • Develop product quotations, including:
  • Pricing
  • Lead times
  • Cost estimates
  • Support sales teams in preparing competitive and accurate proposals

6. Tooling & Manufacturing Support

  • Evaluate tooling requirements for custom or specialized product manufacturing
  • Identify existing tooling capabilities or recommend new tooling solutions
  • Provide cost estimates for tooling and manufacturing processes

7. Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements in engineering workflows
  • Participate in lean initiatives and efficiency optimization
  • Support standardization and best practices across engineering functions

8. Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with cross-functional projects based on business needs
  • Support quality, safety, and compliance initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in:
  • Product design and engineering
  • Manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Engineering analysis (stress/FEA)

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of:
