Job Description:
The Advanced Concept Engineer (ACE) provides strategic technical leadership to draw on L3Harris' technical competencies to meet the business needs of L3Harris and its customers. The ACE is the technical interface between L3Harris and our customers' engineering staff, supporting the Business Development staff in the creation of new business opportunities. The successful ACE will engage with customer, engineering, operations, and management personnel to define and document the customer's CONOPS and requirements, perform trade studies, engage L3Harris Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to architect an affordable solution carrying acceptable risk, and lead resulting proposal efforts. The ACE considers all of the needs, resources, and constraints, including the customer mission, budget limitations, technical preferences, physics boundaries, and the political climate, in a manner that creates trust in the ACE as well as L3Harris. During program execution, the ACE is the technical advocate and voice of the customer during program reviews. This role requires experience in systems engineering, system architecture development, competitive assessment, project engineering management and development program execution.
The Advanced Concept Engineer should be a subject matter expert in multiple technical domains with an entrepreneurial background. This individual will work closely with business development and senior management to respond to customer needs with technical presentations, white papers and proposals; requests for proposals, information and broad agency announcements; and provide market and subject matter expert guidance to business strategy and existing development efforts. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with the ability to work cross-functionally between a large engineering enterprise and external partners is required.

Essential Functions:

* Interpretation of customers' mission needs with a focus on identifying mission gaps and addressable market
* Advocates customer critical needs to internal stakeholders
* Builds business cases and manages discretionary resources
* Roadmaps organic technology, discretionary funding, external partner capabilities, and customer funded studies to build new business opportunities
* Performs technical and management competitive assessments to clearly communicate why and how the new business opportunities provide value to L3Harris and the customer
* Evaluates customer and operational needs to help define and coordinate high level system performance, physical, functional, and program interface requirements
* Synthesis and life cycle ownership of mission architecture
* Generation of the initial Concept of Operations (CONOPS) or Operational Descriptions Document (ODD)
* Generation of initial system architecture views; decomposing opportunity to addressable configuration items in a compressive value chain framework
* Leads the development of appropriate solutions to customer needs
* Demonstrates broad and deep technical knowledge; accesses Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) as needed
* Determines whether requirements can be met with existing capabilities/designs or if new design requirements must be developed

* Leads and coordinates pursuit activities such as technical baseline reviews, request for input (RFI) responses, request for proposal (RFP) responses, and white papers.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
* Demonstrated experience working with EW systems, including signals analysis, hardware design approaches, industry best practices, and techniques against adversary systems.
* Previous experience executing DoD/government programs
* Proven technical business development skills

Duties and Responsibilities

As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA) you will perform aviation-based law enforcement operations for the detection, prevention, interdiction, and apprehension of terrorists, terrorist weapons, and other contraband and persons from illegally entering or attacking the United States. Experience:You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized professional aviation experience performing duties such as:

  • Document required parts, quantities, and any options or condition‑based replacements.
  • Cross‑reference part applicability with aircraft model, serial number ranges, and effectivity.

3. Canned Squawk Creation – convert what is in MPT to excel

  • Convert MPD tasks into standardized canned squawks that include:
  • Task description
  • Inspection or replacement instructions
  • Required parts/materials
  • Interval (FH/Months)
  • Notes and special considerations
  • Ensure squawks are clear, aviation‑appropriate, and compatible with Maintenance/ERP systems (Corridor).

4. Documentation & Data Quality

  • Log all created squawks into the designated template or system.
  • Maintain accuracy by validating MPD references and consistency with OEM documentation.
  • Flag discrepancies or missing information to the supervisor for review.

5. Cross‑Functional Support

  • Collaborate with Maintenance Planning, Engineering, Stores, and Work Order teams as needed.
  • Provide clarification or corrective updates on previously created squawks.

Responsibilities:


This program focuses on supporting activities related to process development, optimizations and designs of portable, modular gas-to-methanol technologies in partnership with M2X Energy Inc., which involves, but is not limited to:



  • Development and review of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).


  • Creation and support of CAD drawings for equipment layouts, skid assemblies, and process components.


  • Design, assembly, and experimentation with benchtop instruments, including data acquisition and analysis.


  • Basic process control support and maintenance of engineering and manufacturing documentation.


  • Assembly, modification, and operation of flow reactors and adsorption testing systems (such as breakthrough rigs) to generate data for pressure swing adsorption (PSA) modeling and validation.

Minimum Qualifications:

In this role, you will support the Systems Engineering Integration (SEI) Integrated Product Team (IPT).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform modeling, simulation, and analysis to support program development, execution, and related research and development projects
  • Develop mission relevant scenarios; assesses operational effectiveness of existing and/or emerging systems and capabilities in representative operational environments
  • Develop new and/or integrates existing system simulation frameworks, weapon systems components to include air vehicle platform, kinematics, sensors, communications, command & control, weapons, and threat performance models and algorithms.
  • Analyze and test next generation tactical assets within an advanced threat environment
  • Develop software to simulate real-time operations and behavior of systems for virtual simulation (man in the loop) testing so that future tactical aircraft can be evaluated in next generation air warfare mission environments.
  • Model operational environments and perform trade studies via computer simulation resulting in recommendations for alternative system architectures and configurations
  • Support the design and development of visualization models and databases for integration with a high fidelity simulation environment used for strategic simulation and training
  • Support evaluations to determine the best frameworks, hardware, capabilities, and tools available to create simulations and experiences that enhance the Virtual Simulation product
  • Ensure performance capabilities of new systems and architectures are traded against cost and mission requirements

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Technical Partner to join the founding leadership team of Origin Precision Machining. This is not a traditional employment role.


This is a strategic partnership opportunity for a technically elite CNC machinist who wants to help build and own a high-performance aerospace machining company from the ground up.


You will be responsible for leading the technical direction of the shop, establishing and maintaining relationships with prime contractors, setting production standards and SOPs, and overseeing machining operations.Β 


Your Impact

As a technical partner, you will:


  • Develop the technical foundation of the machine shop

Core Responsibilities


Technical & Operational Leadership

  • Lead setup, operation, and optimization of multi-axis CNC mills and lathes
  • Program complex components using offline CAM software (Mastercam, NX, Esprit, etc.)
  • Oversee EDM operations (wire and sinker), including AgieCharmilles platforms
  • Develop machining strategies for tight-tolerance, high-value components
  • Establish tooling standards, fixture strategies, and process documentation
  • Drive first-article inspection readiness and repeatability
  • Evaluate and implement AI-enabled CAM, toolpath optimization, and process simulation technologies.
  • Develop data capture standards across machines to enable future AI-driven optimization and predictive maintenance.
  • Build a digitally native shop floor using automation, analytics, and intelligent workflow systems from inception.


Systems & Compliance

  • Build manufacturing processes aligned with AS9100 quality standards, and others
  • Prepare the shop for ITAR and future CMMC readiness
  • Implement GD&T standards per ASME Y14.5
  • Develop internal work instructions and production documentation
  • Support transition from prototype to production runs


Strategic & Growth Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on capital equipment decisions and expansion planning
  • Assist in vendor selection and outside processing management (heat treat, coating, grinding, etc.)
  • Identify continuous improvement initiatives (Lean principles)
  • Support quoting strategy and manufacturability analysis (DFM)
  • Help recruit and mentor future machinists and programmers


Digital & AI Infrastructure Leadership

  • Architect an AI-forward machining environment from day one.
  • Identify opportunities for AI integration in:

(i) Toolpath optimization

(ii) Quoting and cost modeling

(iii) Quality inspection and anomaly detection

(iv) Machine monitoring and predictive maintenance

(v) Production scheduling and capacity planning

  • Establish a scalable digital backbone (ERP/MES/QMS integration).
  • Continuously evaluate emerging AI technologies relevant to advanced manufacturing.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of advanced CNC machining experience in aerospace, defense, or high-precision manufacturing
  • Strong multi-axis machining experience (3–5 axis milling, turning)
  • Experience with EDM (wire and/or sinker preferred)
  • Deep understanding of blueprint interpretation and GD&T
  • Proven ability to machine tight-tolerance components in difficult materials (titanium, Inconel, stainless alloys, etc.)
  • Proficient in CNC programming using offline software such as UG, Esprit, or MasterCam.
  • Experience with AgieCharmilles EDM machines and/or various CNC controls (Okuma, Fanuc, etc.).
  • Proficiency in digital tools, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of outside processing techniques (heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.).
  • Experience building setups from scratch and solving complex machining challenges
