Project Manager – Commercial Construction (General Contractor)

Key Responsibilities
- Lead all phases of the project lifecycle, from preconstruction through completion
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and forecasts
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure timely execution
- Maintain strong communication with clients, consultants, and stakeholders
- Identify and mitigate project risks while ensuring safety and quality standards
- Oversee contract administration, change orders, and cost control
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager with a general contractor
- Proven experience delivering ground-up commercial construction projects
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, scheduling, and cost management
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera, MS Project)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

This role leads project teams, manages budgets and schedules, ensures safety and quality standards, and builds strong client relationships.
What You’ll Do:
- Interpret and manage project documents including contracts, drawings, specifications, and change orders.
- Develop budgets, review and prepare pricing for change orders, and monitor cost controls.
- Coordinate procurement, delivery, and tracking of materials.
- Maintain project schedules and collaborate with field personnel to ensure progress and resolve issues.
- Conduct site visits to monitor construction methods and project milestones.
- Administer and approve project accounting items such as invoices, payroll, and requisitions.
- Prepare and deliver timely reporting including field reports, forecasts, and month-end summaries.

What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years of construction experience, including 3+ years in project management
- Strong knowledge of drywall, acoustical ceilings, and rough carpentry is a MUST have
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

What You’ll Do:
- Support the Preconstruction Process as needed, participating in meetings, overseeing the buyout of assigned projects, and verifying financial projections.
- Oversee Project Teams and Operations for assigned projects.
- Oversee Project Teams with the development of the project schedule and ensure they comply with the Contract requirements for assigned projects.
- Oversee and evaluate the financial performance of assigned projects monthly.
- Oversee and assist project team with managing risk on assigned projects.
- Oversee and monitor that project teams are delivering project requirements in accordance with the Contract Requirements.
- Oversee and monitor that safety, budgets, schedule, and quality are meeting performance expectations.
- Oversee and assist senior leadership with resource allocation to maximize efficiency and profitability.
- Monitor and provide leadership to Project Teams related to contract administration, change orders, procurement, schedule, owner billing, subcontractor/vendor billing, and financial reporting.
- Encourage and mentor employee growth.
What We’re Looking For:
- 10+ years of construction experience, with proven project leadership
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred

The hourly rate for this position is:
$28.60 - $47.68Benefits:
Except as otherwise required by state law, CarMax Associates are entitled to the following paid sick, vacation, and holiday time.
Associates that are considered full-time hourly or commission/incentive eligible:
- To earn up to 48 hours of sick time per year accrued on a per pay period basis and between 80 hours and 200 hours per year of vacation time after a 90 day waiting period depending on years of continuous service with the Company.
- For 8 hours of pay for each of a total of 6 paid scheduled holidays per year plus 1 floating holiday. If such an Associate does work on a scheduled holiday due to business need, they are eligible for Holiday Premium Pay.
Associates considered full-time salaried are entitled to paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc. subject to manager approval.

What you will do – Essential responsibilities
- Automotive Technicians diagnose, recondition and repair vehicles to ensure CarMax customers can drive away feeling safe and at ease
- Work as part of a team to solve technical problems quickly and effectively
- Build experience as an automotive mechanic across a wide range of domestic and foreign vehicles
- Follow and promote our high standards of safety, cleanliness and organization

Qualifications and requirements
- Experience in one or more of the following: engine repair, steering and suspension, brakes, heating and air conditioning
- Knowledge of health and safety compliance
- Manual dexterity and physical stamina, lift heavy objects, and walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills and attention to detail
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
- Where required by State/Local law, maintain ASE Certifications in Steering and Suspension (A4), Brakes (A5), Heating Air Conditioning (A7), Electrical (A6), Engine Repair (A1), Manual Drive Train and Axles (A3), Engine Performance (A8), and Automatic Transmission/Transaxle (A2)
