Job Functions
  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, conveyor systems, production and utility machines by following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions and engineering specifications.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment as equipment is made available.
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging, production and utility machines.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Remove defective/damaged parts using items such as hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools.
  • Adjust functional parts of machines and control instruments by using items such as hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Fabricate repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Prepare and set up machinery for scheduled production runs as required.
  • Work with and support Engineering during new projects and process improvement activities.
  • Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish requisite tasks.
  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, issues and ongoing opportunities.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs if required, and dexterity to allow looking inside of machinery, panels, overhead, and potentially awkward positions or locations to assess equipment.

Machinists in this position participate in the design, fabrication and assembly of various production and research projects. Using a variety of precision machines (e.g., lathes, grinders, EDM, CNC and milling machines) to support aircraft engineering and production groups.

Manage freight procurement, including sending RFQs, negotiating with freight forwarders, and selecting the most competitive offers.

Issue shipping orders to selected freight forwarders and maintaining accurate shipment logs.

Review and approve (or reject) freight forwarder invoices, as well as U.S.

customs invoices, including those with new tariffs.

Communicate with customer logistics representatives to confirm delivery schedules, packing lists, and other shipping-related information.

Coordinate import and export customs clearances with customs brokers.

Work with vendors to resolve material discrepancies related to quantity ordered vs quantity shipped.

Handle and support all shipping related claims.

Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge Bachelor’s Degree, technical degree preferred Seven plus years of experience in international logistics (e.g., import/export of ocean freight and airfreight).

Extensive experience in developing shipping strategies and optimizing project logistics costs across road, air, containerized, and over-dimensional/overweight sea freight.

Strong knowledge of international customs clearance processes and regulatory compliance.

Demonstrated history of driving operational efficiency by identifying and implementing optimal, cost-effective solutions.

Skilled in negotiating frame agreements with freight forwarders and individual carriers to secure competitive rates and service levels.

In-depth knowledge of the global cargo market and key industry players across trucking, inland waterways, rail, ocean, and air freight.

Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, etc.) Experience with Logistics and ERP Systems Ability to handle multiple shipments and projects at the same time.

Communicate professionally with customers, suppliers, project managers, and engineers.
