Job Title : Oceanography Category / Component: Officer • Both Overview Oceanography (OCEANO) Officers, also called METOC, are the Navy's geophysical experts who understand and apply all facets of meteorology, oceanography, hydrography, bathymetry, geophysics, and precise time and astrometry.

Key Responsibilities Provide timely and relevant support to fleet and joint operations by leading the collection, processing, prediction, exploitation, and dissemination of environmental data.

Ensure safety of navigation, access to denied waters, freedom to maneuver at will, and increase the lethality of Navy forces.

Lead teams ranging from small 3-4 person deployable units to large commands of over 400 personnel.

Postgraduate education at the Naval Postgraduate School is required for officers at the LCDR level and senior, typically as mid-grade Lieutenants.

Promotions to LTJG and LT occur at 2 and 4 years of service, with competitive promotion opportunities to LCDR, CDR, CAPT, and Flag Officer ranks.

Requires a Baccalaureate degree, preferably in a technical field, with a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or greater.

Must have completed a full college calculus series (I and II) with a minimum 'C' average, and a college-level calculus-based physics series (I and II) with a minimum 'B' average.

A desired degree is in physics, physics-based oceanography, meteorology, hydrography, earth science, engineering, or mathematics.

Summary: The Congenital Cardiovascular Sonographer utilizes radiologic sciences technology to perform a range of patient care, technical, and diagnostic tasks aimed at treating patients with cardiovascular disease.

This role specifically focuses on adults with a history of congenital conditions.

Key responsibilities include conducting ultrasound imaging, preparing patients, providing post-procedure care, setting up and cleaning procedure rooms, generating technical reports, and monitoring quality.

Responsibilities: Provides pre-procedure and post-procedure patient care, including patient assessment, emergency cardiac care (CPR required), and assistance with post-procedure transport.

Ensures daily calibration and maintenance of equipment, performs and records all maintenance and quality assurance checks, troubleshoots equipment issues, and reports problems to the appropriate supervisor or biomedical engineering.

Generates ultrasound images of the heart and vascular structures, performs advanced cardiac ultrasound studies for patients with complex conditions, and regularly conducts multiple study types across varied anatomical areas.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical support, increasing the rigor of technical product development, with project support of products, accessories, and cross-functional initiatives
  • Manage product development deliverables through the entire development lifecycle, with a focus on manufacturing transfer
  • Support sustaining engineering activities for products in commercial manufacturing
  • Write and execute protocols to assess manufacturing process capability (IQ/OQ/PQ)
  • Maintain Device Master Record (DMR) and ensure documents are complete, accurate, and current including process routers, inspection plans, temporary deviations, and nonconformances
  • Participate in manufacturing investigations/CAPA resolutions to identify improvements to the manufacturing processes
