Position Summary
The System Director of Facilities Management is responsible for the strategic leadership, design, planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of all Sinai Chicago facilities and properties. This role oversees system-wide facilities operations to ensure safe, efficient, compliant, and cost-effective environments that support clinical, administrative, and community services. The Director leads facilities planning and execution with a strong emphasis on operational excellence, customer service, regulatory compliance, and long-range growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Leadership
- Develop and implement short- and long-term facilities plans aligned with organizational growth, clinical expansion, and future needs.
- Lead system-wide facilities management operations with a focus on efficiency, reliability, safety, and customer service.

- Approve contracts, negotiate vendor agreements, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and compliance.
Utilities & Infrastructure
- Oversee procurement, generation, and distribution of utilities, including:
- Water supply
- Sewage systems
- Energy and related infrastructure
- Ensure continuity, reliability, and efficiency of all utility systems.
Collaboration & Customer Service
- Coordinate with clinical, administrative, and support departments to ensure facilities operations meet organizational needs.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelorβs degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, or a related field required; Masterβs degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in facilities management, construction, or healthcare facilities operations.
- Demonstrated experience managing large, complex, multi-site facilities portfolios, preferably in a healthcare environment.

Job Summary

Event Planning & Coordination
- Coordinate sustainabilityfocused events, workshops, popups, and gardenbased programs.
- Reserve and manage the Community Garden as an event space, including scheduling, approvals, setups, and pre/post event walkthroughs.

Outreach & Engagement

Student Staff Coordination
- Recruit, train, schedule, and oversee student staff supporting events, tabling, and zerowaste operations.

In this role, you will report to the Site Services Supervisor and will work closely with the Avantor's Lab and Production Services team of over 1,500 on- and off-site expert personnel - and our customers - to perform customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

In this role you will:
Glassware Washing & Laboratory Support
Perform routine washing, drying, and sterilization of laboratory glassware following established SOPs.
Inspect glassware for cleanliness, damage, or wear and remove items that do not meet quality standards.
Organize, label, and restock clean glassware to designated laboratory areas to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
Maintain cleanliness of washing stations, autoclaves, drying ovens, and related equipment.
Track inventory of glassware and notify appropriate personnel of low stock or replacement needs.
PPE Cleaning & Maintenance
Collect, clean, and sanitize personal protective equipment (PPE) according to facility hygiene and safety requirements.
Inspect PPE for damage, contamination, or wear and escalate issues requiring replacement.
Ensure all cleaned PPE meets quality and safety standards prior to restocking or redistribution.
PPE Restocking & Inventory
Monitor PPE inventory levels and restock gowns, gloves, eyewear, lab coats, and other protective items across designated labs or workstations.

Ensure PPE stations remain organized, labeled, and accessible to laboratory personnel.
Buffer Preparation

Perform pH adjustments, verify concentrations, and maintain batch documentation.
Ensure proper storage and handling of prepared buffers to maintain stability and compliance.
Chemical Management

POSITION SUMMARY: A Driver- CDL (B) is responsible for safely operating a collection truck, and providing prompt, courteous and complete waste removal services for customers. In addition, a Driver β CDL (B) is responsible for ensuring his or her vehicle is in compliance with the Companyβs safety standards prior to operating the vehicle, ensures that all Company, state and federal regulations are adhered to at all times while operating the vehicle, and completes vehicle condition reports (βVCRsβ) on a daily basis to ensure that any vehicle defects are repaired in a timely manner.

- Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle in accordance with Company policy to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order. Report any safety issues on standard reports.

POSITION SUMMARY: A Driver- CDL (B) is responsible for safely operating a collection truck, and providing prompt, courteous and complete waste removal services for customers. In addition, a Driver β CDL (B) is responsible for ensuring his or her vehicle is in compliance with the Companyβs safety standards prior to operating the vehicle, ensures that all Company, state and federal regulations are adhered to at all times while operating the vehicle, and completes vehicle condition reports (βVCRsβ) on a daily basis to ensure that any vehicle defects are repaired in a timely manner.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle in accordance with Company policy to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order. Report any safety issues on standard reports.
- Safely operate his or her heavy truck along his or her designated route and to the disposal site; read route sheet, follow map and service each customer as identified on the route sheet or as assigned by the dispatcher and/or supervisor.
- Operate manual and/or automatic controls in accordance with Company safety policies and procedures to lift and load refuse, operate compactor and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
- Courteously interact with all customers, dispatchers and others on a daily basis to ensure all customer routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner.
- Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers in accordance with applicable departmental procedures.

We also formed Blue Polymers, a joint venture with Ravago, to develop facilities that will further process plastic material from our Polymer Centers to help meet the growing demand for sustainable packaging. We are building a network of Polymer Centers and Blue Polymer facilities across North America.
We continue to advance decarbonization at our landfills. As demand for renewable energy continues to grow, we have 70 landfill gas-to-energy projects in operation and plan to expand our portfolio to 115 projects by 2028.

POSITION SUMMARY: A Driver- CDL (B) is responsible for safely operating a collection truck, and providing prompt, courteous and complete waste removal services for customers. In addition, a Driver β CDL (B) is responsible for ensuring his or her vehicle is in compliance with the Companyβs safety standards prior to operating the vehicle, ensures that all Company, state and federal regulations are adhered to at all times while operating the vehicle, and completes vehicle condition reports (βVCRsβ) on a daily basis to ensure that any vehicle defects are repaired in a timely manner.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle in accordance with Company policy to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order. Report any safety issues on standard reports.
- Safely operate his or her heavy truck along his or her designated route and to the disposal site; read route sheet, follow map and service each customer as identified on the route sheet or as assigned by the dispatcher and/or supervisor.
- Operate manual and/or automatic controls in accordance with Company safety policies and procedures to lift and load refuse, operate compactor and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
- Courteously interact with all customers, dispatchers and others on a daily basis to ensure all customer routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner.
- Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers in accordance with applicable departmental procedures.
- Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
- Clean area around an accidental waste spill, ensuring adherence to all applicable safety standards and policies.
- Continuously monitor the condition of the vehicle to ensure it is operationally ready at all times to minimize down time; clean waste from the packer blade and truck body (where appropriate) on each disposal trip.
- Complete required route/productivity sheets, VCRs and other reports, as required.
- Maintain adherence to required productivity standards for the department to ensure all customers are serviced in a timely and efficient manner.
- Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in the Companyβs ReSOP program.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Good customer services skills to meet and exceed customer expectations; acts in a professional, courteous and cooperative manner toward customers and co-workers; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness.
