Your Impact as an Emergency Veterinarian
As an Emergency Veterinarian, you will be the calm in the storm for pet owners facing their most difficult moments. Pediatric Neurosurgery Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) - Driscoll Children's Hospital
The Driscoll Health System is recruiting an Advanced Practice Provider to join a dynamic team of medical professionals in Pediatric Neurosurgery. The qualified candidate will have completed an approved PA or NP program and must be certified and licensed to practice in the state of Texas (or be able to obtain), a minimum 3 years of operating experience (any surgical specialty) preferred. Pediatric experience is not required, neurosurgery training will be provided. The Division provides a full range of pediatric neurosurgery including congenital anomalies, tumors, vascular problems, trauma, spine, epilepsy, and spasticity. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Minimum of five years of infection prevention experience within a hospital setting required with a Baccalaureate degree in nursing or higher required. Three years of recent infection prevention experience in an acute care hospital setting is required. Preferred: post-graduate courses in epidemiology, infection prevention or disease control, completion of CDC or APIC sponsored infection prevention training is desirable. Supervisory and managerial experience is desirable. Working knowledge of statistics and epidemiological principles is required. Computer skills required include proficiency in the following Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint; graphics display programs such as QI Macros, as well as a level of comfort with learning and adapting to new programs
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Current certification in Infection Prevention and Control by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology is required. Must have current State of Texas professional nursing licensure

The Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) are part of a multidisciplinary team that plans and delivers care for critical neuroscience patients with a focus on those with neurological and neurosurgical diseases and related disorders. Our critical patient population includes complex strokes, skull base surgery, status epilepticus, tumor resections, spinal cord injury, DBS, and other complex diseases. The APPs rotate in the intensive care unit and stepdown units.

Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistants Role Scope:
Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Advanced Practitioners perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.
In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Advanced Practitioners develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.
Advanced Practitioners provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.
