* The Community Education Specialist 2 (CES 2) position will be located in the University of California Cooperative Extension Office and will act as a valuable team member of the 4-H Youth Development Program (4-H YDP).
4-H YDP is the largest youth-serving organization in the U.S.
Our focus is to provide positive youth development to youth in our community through research-based best practices, community collaborations, and community engagement.
The CES 2 helps to coordinate and monitor the daily activities of the 4-H Youth Development Program (4-H YDP) in Mendocino County.

What You'll Do
- Collaborate effectively and appropriately with teachers, administration, parents and consultants/specialists, i.e. OT, mental health services, etc. Following up with Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) and Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) concerns when necessary.
- Collaborate on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or 504 plans with teachers, parents, and other specialists. Develop, implement, and train paraprofessionals on Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
- Provide one-on-one support with children in the classroom to meet specific developmental goals outlined in IEPs, and develop data tracking processes to track ongoing progress towards goals.
- Coach teachers and paraprofessionals and model developmentally appropriate classroom activities to support children with suspected or identified special needs. (expanding in SY 2025-2026 PBC coaches)
- Documentation and maintenance of confidential child files including ongoing tracking and documentation of interventions, assessments, family, teacher and administration communication.
- Support and collaborate with teachers, parents/caregivers, and Site Supervisor to identify and access resources (instructional materials, adaptive equipment, etc.) to help children flourish in classrooms.
- Meet with parents/ caregivers, in conjunction with teaching staff and paraprofessionals, to interpret ASQ's, parent conferences, IEP meetings, and assessments when needed.
- Provide referrals, advocate, and serve as liaison for additional family services, such as support for families with special needs, etc.
- Lead occasional parent/ caregiver and staff training on child development, special education and early intervention topics. Expanding in SY 2 PPP, Sparkler Developmental Playgroups)
- Collaborate with the Family Support Team to facilitate Center on the Social Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL) meetings and work with teachers to implement CSEFEL strategies in classrooms, including visual schedules and expectations.
Qualifications
You have a solid mix of the following knowledge, ability, skills and experience:
- B. A. degree in Child Development, Mental Health, Special Education or related fields
- At least 2 years of experience working with preschool age children with a focus on children with special needs.
- Possesses California Child Development permit or 12 qualifying units in Early Childhood Education
- Demonstrated knowledge of parenting challenges, child development, and children and families with special needs, including behavioral and emotional issues
- Experience with coaching staff and facilitating workshops/trainings preferred

About the position:
We have Special Education Teacher positions open in both our Kiefer School and Academy for Autism.
Kiefer School provides special education for children who experience difficulty in their home school due to severe emotional, behavioral and/or learning challenges. The goal is to improve a childβs ability to function within the public school setting by providing intensive intervention in small classrooms and a range of treatment and support services to the student and their family. Kiefer is an AdvancEd accredited, ISBE-approved private school.
Our Academy for Autism serves students ages 5-22 with an educational or medical diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Through intervention with ISBE licensed educators and teacher assistants in each classroom and small class sizes, our students are able to find their pathway to success using innovative tools and techniques geared towards those with Autism.
A Special Education Teacher provides academic and behavioral instruction to students on a daily basis in a classroom of up to 10 students. They play a critical role in that they carry out the IEP requirements for each student in their daily programming. They are the main change agent for studentsβ academic and behavioral growth and serve as a role model. A Special Education Teacher must not only provide for the academic needs of students, but also for the social skill and behavioral needs as well.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver a Christian Religious Education programme

- Manage supplies, equipment, and inventory

The Person:
To succeed as a Protestant Director of Religious Education Services, you will need:
- At least 2 yearsβ experience in religious education or church leadership
- Strong knowledge of Protestant Christian teachings and Bible literacy

- Confidence using Microsoft Office and social media platforms
- A letter of good standing within the Protestant faith

The Coordinator ensures that educational activities are well-organized, compliant with regulatory agencies, accessible, and aligned with clinical staff development goals.
Responsibilities:

- Create and implement Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) that follows the gradual release model to explicitly address individual student's unique needs.
- Write effective IEPs as assigned by the Manager of Special Education and MLL Supports.
- Maintain systems and collect data for IEP reports.
- Observe and make individual plans for students with IEPs to inform caseload management.
- Communicate with stakeholders about IEP meetings

- Collaborate with league teachers and CAS to complete exit summaries

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
BSN is required. A national certification is preferred. Minimum of two years of full-time nursing experience required, five years preferred. Certified Diabetic Educator (CDE) must be obtained within two years of employment. Formal training in diabetes education and/or recent experience for three years in inpatient or outpatient care of diabetes is required. Demonstrated teaching experience and knowledge of adult education principles, ability to deliver and evaluate adult education programs. Experience with continuous glucose monitoring systems and as a pump trainer considered an asset. Demonstration of experience in curriculum development and implementation of adult learning principles is required.
LICENSURE
State of Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse is required. Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support and Health Care Provider card is required.
