Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and professional Pre-Medical Student (senior or gap year) to join our team as a Medical Assistant. This is a unique opportunity for future physicians to gain direct clinical experience in a fast-paced dermatology and cosmetic practice. You’ll work alongside an experienced dermatology team and receive mentorship from a nationally recognized physician.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the dermatologist and medical team with patient care during consultations, procedures, and treatments
- Prepare and scribe during exams, accurately document patient information in EMR (EZ-Derm training provided)
- Educate patients on pre- and post-care instructions for medical and cosmetic treatments
- Maintain exam room cleanliness, sterilize instruments, and ensure equipment readiness
- Support with photography, inventory, and general administrative duties
- Learn about lasers, injectables, and dermatologic procedures in a clinical setting
Ideal Candidate:
- Current college senior (pre-med) or gap year student preparing to apply to medical school
- Passionate about dermatology, aesthetics, and hands-on patient care
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask, take initiative, and work efficiently in a clinical environment
- Prior medical assistant or shadowing experience is a plus, but not required

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dermatology, specialized training in MOHS surgery, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
*Key Responsibilities:*
*MOHS Surgery:*
* Perform MOHS micrographic surgery to remove skin cancers with a focus on preserving healthy tissue and achieving high cure rates.
* Examine the removed tissue microscopically during the procedure to ensure all cancerous cells are excised.
* Collaborate with pathology to interpret tissue sections and determine if further excision is required.
* Utilize reconstructive surgery techniques to repair the surgical site, ensuring optimal cosmetic and functional outcomes.
* Provide pre-operative and post-operative care, including wound management, patient education, and follow-up visits.
*Qualifications:*
* Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from an accredited medical school.
* Board certification in Dermatology
* Valid medical license to practice in California.
* Extensive experience in diagnosing and treating skin cancers, including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma.
* Proficiency in performing MOHS micrographic surgery and reconstructive surgery.
* Strong understanding of dermatopathology and the ability to interpret histopathological slides.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient-care skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

This vital role offers an exciting opportunity to diagnose and manage a wide spectrum of skin conditions, perform specialized procedures such as Mohs surgery, and contribute to patient health and wellness.

Key Skills & Qualifications: Board Certification in Dermatology Active State License in North Carolina and IMLC acceptance DEA Certification Extensive experience as a general dermatologist Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems, preferably EPIC Strong diagnostic skills for common dermatologic conditions and skin cancers Ability to perform specialized procedures including Mohs surgery Effective communication skills and compassionate patient care Nice to Have Skills: Experience with skin of color, hyperpigmentation, and cosmetic dermatology Knowledge of cosmetic procedures such as Botox, fillers, chemical peels, and microneedling Familiarity with hospital-based practice management and documentation systems Additional certifications or training in dermatologic surgery Preferred Education & Experience: Medical Degree from an accredited institution Relevant board certification in dermatology Proven experience in diagnosing and managing complex skin conditions Experience performing Mohs surgery highly preferred Other Requirements: Availability for scheduled night shifts (4 x 10-hour shifts per week, 7:00 PM 5:00 AM) Willingness to obtain licensure in North Carolina; licensure process can take 60-90 days Vaccinations as mandated by healthcare regulations Flexibility to travel if required This position offers competitive hourly pay of $269.10, along with an attractive benefits package including comprehensive medical coverage, weekly pay via direct deposit, paid sick leave, licensure and travel reimbursements, and a robust referral bonus program.
