General Summary of Position
Administers roentgen rays and radioactive substances to patients. Operates x-ray equipment develops film prepare patient's room equipment supplies and medications. Provides patient services using imaging modalities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare room equipment medicine and materials as needed for patients.
  • Cleans and disinfects x-ray room and equipment.
  • Prepare barium preparation and other chemical mixture for x-rays.
  • Prepare patient for x-rays explains procedures transfers patient to table position patient and assists patient at end of procedure.
  • Follow prescribed techniques in administrating general and specific x-rays. Adjusts equipment determines proper voltage current and desired exposure time. Arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain position of patient and adjusts the lead shield and selects proper film.
  • Radiographs all incoming patients.
  • Observes patient and machine during procedures and reports unusual occurrences and records patient's condition.
  • Routinely maintains stock supplies and performs general office duties such as writing reports.
  • Assists chief technologist in maintaining radiographic technique charts.
  • Transports patients
  • Follow infection control guidelines applicable to the section.
  • Efficiently takes mobile x-ray unit to patient's room or emergency room.
  • Works holidays weekends and takes call as necessary.
  • Performs all related duties as assigned.

Minimal Qualifications
Education

  • Associate's degree in Radiology required or
  • Bachelor's degree in Radiology required

Licenses and Certifications

  • Maryland State License required and
  • ARRT Registered with ARRT required

  • Participate in rotating home call schedule with prompt call-back response (30–45 minutes)

Collaboration with medical assistants, scribes, and radiology techs is required, though no RN/LPN support is available.
