Responsibilities
LiRo’s Virtual Design, Construction & Operations (VDCO) group is seeking a motivated VDC/BIM Intern to support ongoing infrastructure, transportation, and building projects. This 3 month summer internship offers hands-on exposure to real-world BIM and VDC workflows and an opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on active projects.
The ideal candidate has foundational technical skills, curiosity, and a strong interest in learning and applying emerging technologies in the AEC industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the VDCO team with 3D modeling and BIM-related tasks to support design and construction workflows.
- Support development and maintenance of Revit-based models for existing conditions, design coordination, and as-built documentation
- Participate in Navisworks model aggregation, basic coordination, and visualization tasks
- Support visualization efforts using game engines and/or rendering software as needed
- Assist with preparation of drawings, graphics, and presentation materials
- Learn and support reality capture, laser scanning, and model-based workflows under guidance of senior staff
- Collaborate with project teams and follow established BIM standards and workflows
Qualifications
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Rhino
- Basic skills in 3D modeling and spatial understanding
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, BIM, or a related field
- Strong interest in BIM, VDC, and construction technology
- Willingness to learn new tools, workflows, and industry best practices
- Professional and clear verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work independently, with direction and supervision, and in a team environment.
- Enrolled and actively pursuing an accredited Master’s degree program; recommended degrees include and are not limited to Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or other related field of study, and at minimum 1 year of completed education, and/or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred (Nice to Have):
- Exposure to BIM coordination, 4D/5D concepts, or visualization workflows
- Familiarity with point clouds, laser scanning, or reality capture is a plus
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or visualization tools is a plus
- Experience with Scripting tools Rhino Grasshopper and/or Revit Dynamo is desired
- Experience with Modeling & Rendering software such as Unreal, Lumion, 3ds Max, Twin Motion is desired

Responsibilities
- Provide subject matter expert technical review for consultant projects, including reports, contract plans and specifications for conventional geotechnical as well as dam and flood control projects.
- Provide review of consultant led design work on dam projects. Types of review may include safety inspections and hazard classification screenings, hazard classification assessments, Engineering Assessments, and contract documents.
- Work as a member of the project design team, both in-house and consultant led, to develop construction level documents for conventional geotechnical and dam projects.
- Prepare, coordinate, and oversee geotechnical field exploration programs for in-house design projects.
- Review of subsurface exploration logs and laboratory geotechnical testing results.
- Prepare and/or review design calculations required to develop geotechnical recommendations. Types of calculations may be expected to include allowable soil bearing capacity, total and differential settlements, geotechnical capacity of deep foundation systems, excavation support systems, site retaining walls, subgrade modulus for slabs-on-grade, slope stability, and pavement design (both flexible and rigid).
- Development of geotechnical engineering technical memorandums, evaluations, and reports presenting design and construction recommendations for foundations, floor slabs, site development, site retaining walls and below-grade walls, groundwater control, excavation support, and pavement.
- Perform dam safety inspections, including review of existing conditions of earthen embankments and concrete gravity structures, to verify conformance with NYSDEC dam safety regulations and guidelines.
- Perform site visits to provide technical expertise required to address issues which may be encountered during construction. Additional site visits may be required to address emergency conditions which develop.
- Provide technical assistance to other divisions within OGS D&C.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Some travel is required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, geology, or related field.
- Master’s degree in civil engineering is a plus.
- Current Professional Engineering License in State of New York or ability to obtain licensure in New York State within 6 months.
- Dam engineering specific experience preferred.
- Competent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, experience with dams and water resources is a plus.
- Professional experience in preparing and reviewing contract drawings and technical specifications.
- Basic technical writing proficiency.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- AutoCAD proficiency is a plus.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software such as GEOSTUDIO, Rocslide, and LPILE.
- Experience with water resources software such as HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS is a plus.

Responsibilities
- Act as liaison between contractors, field personnel, client, executive staff and contract management on issues and complex matters.
- Estimate and negotiate orders on contract with contractors in accordance with the contract.
- Review orders on contract for compliance.
- Manage all orders on contract within a geographical location.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field, or associates degree with 2 years of estimating experience, or 3 years’ experience as an estimator.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel
- Estimating experience in all areas of construction preferred
- OSHA 10

Responsibilities
Serve as lead civil engineer for local townships and villages on Long Island in the consultation, review and preparation of site plans, roadway improvements, drainage upgrades, traffic safety, and streetscape efforts.As the village or township engineer, lead the preparation of design plans, bid books and specifications, oversight of construction inspections, and final closeout of construction.Attend planning board meetings and serve as a specialty civil engineering consultant (attendance at evening meetings once per week on average).Respond to RFPs and prepare letter proposals for new contracts and task orders.Lead and direct civil engineering design staff as well as field inspectors on ongoing municipal projects.Quickly respond and travel to local building departments and departments of public work as LiRo’s representative to support local infrastructure projects.Perform plan reviews for quality assurance, constructability, and conformance to Nassau County, Suffolk County, and NYSDOT standards.Financial management of projects and resource staffing.Attendance at industry functions and business development events

Qualifications
• Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of highway and/or bridge inspection experience.
• Must be NICET Level II, III, IV or registered PE
• Recent NYSDOT and/or Thruway project experience required.
• Proficient with Site Manager.
• ATSSA and ACI certification(s) a plus.

Qualifications
