Project Manager – Heavy Civil (Paving, Grading, Utilities)

We’re partnered with a growing heavy civil contractor delivering a wide range of site development, roadway, and underground utility projects across Northern California.

With a strong pipeline of work across public and private sectors, they’re looking to bring on an experienced Project Manager to lead projects across paving, grading, and wet utilities.

The Role

You’ll take full ownership of multiple projects, managing both field operations and commercial performance from preconstruction through completion.

Key responsibilities:

• Managing project budgets, schedules, and overall delivery
• Overseeing grading, paving, and underground utility scopes
• Leading project teams including Project Engineers and Superintendents
• Managing subcontractors, procurement, and material buyout
• Handling change orders, cost tracking, and client communication
• Ensuring safety, quality, and compliance across all job sites

Project Scope

Projects typically include:

• Mass grading and site development
• Asphalt and concrete paving
• Underground wet utilities (water, sewer, storm drain)
• Roadway widening and reconstruction
• Commercial and subdivision infrastructure

What We’re Looking For

• 5–12+ years’ experience in heavy civil construction
• Strong background in grading, paving, and/or wet utilities
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Solid commercial understanding (cost control, change orders, forecasting)
• Experience working with public works and/or private developers
• Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred
