Automation Design Engineer

We are working with a $100M American manufacturer with an opening for a Senior Automation Design Engineer. This position will design and build machinery and systems for their four manufacturing facilities in: Cincinnati OH, Wooster OH, Ft Wayne IN & Columbia City IN.

Responsibilities:

• Scope, design, specify, procure and build machinery and equipment for manufacturing.
• Create 3D CAD models, detail and assembly drawings, design layouts, BOMs, and tolerance application.
• Collaborate with our machined, lasered and purchased parts suppliers.
• Work closely with the manufacturing team to generate innovative and cost-effective, data driven projects focused on process and equipment improvements.
• Travel Required: Up to 50%. Most travel will be between Wooster, Cincinnati Ohio, and Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5+ years of experience in machine design
• Experience with modern manufacturing technologies
• Knowledge of regulatory and safety standards in manufacturing
• Controls design experience including PLC & HMI programming, Servos & AC Drives.
• Lean training/continuous improvement including Six Sigma belt certification.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and how data integration can optimize their effectiveness.
