Position Summary:

The Production Supervisor-2nd shift opening at Thaler Defense Systems, is on-site in Springboro, Ohio. The position oversees daily operations, leading a team of machinists and operators to ensure efficient and accurate machining of precision aerospace and defense components. This role focuses on meeting production schedules, maintaining excellent quality standards, ensuring compliance to regulatory standards, and maintaining a safe work environment while fostering a high performing team. The Production Supervisor also plays a key role in continuous improvement initiatives.


Essential Job Duties:

  • Supervisor and mentor a team of machinists and operators, providing guidance and support to enhance skills and performance.
  • Plan and coordinate production activities to meet schedules, ensuring optimal use of resources and meeting production targets.
  • Monitor and assist operators on production processes, including CNC machining, milling, turning, grinding, and assembly to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Enforce compliance to the company AS9100 quality management system requirements, including process controls, inspections, and documentation.
  • Identify and resolve production issues, troubleshoot equipment problems, and collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams for improvements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture, conducting regular audits and ensuring compliance with OSHA and company policies.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and drive continuous improvement within the manufacturing team.
  • Track key performance indicators such as on-time delivery, scrap rates, and efficiency to report and act on data to ensure attainment of overall manufacturing goals.

Qualifications:

  • 0-3 years of experience in a precision machining environment, preferable in aerospace, defense, or other regulated industries. 2 or more years of supervisory or leadership experience managing production teams preferred.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial or Operations Management, Engineering, or related discipline preferred. Machining or other supervisory experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Strong understanding of precision machining processes (e.g., CNC milling, turning), materials, GD&T, and blueprint reading.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
  • Able to execute multiple tasks, deadlines and priorities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems. Experience with Infor Syteline a plus.
  • Experience with Aerospace and Defense regulatory requirements, including AS9100, ISO 9001, and ITAR a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Must be a U.S. person as defined by ITAR
